Our phone enables one to list welcomed callers with a special ring tone plus a list of auto blocked numbers. Also we have an answering machine that records calls if caller chooses to do so. This new device sounds worth looking into.

You need both - caller ID AND your tel provider needs to support the service (allowing an incoming call to ring two different lines.) When a call comes in, it is routed to both you and nomorobo. Nomorobo “looks” at the caller ID and decides if it’s in their DB as a robo caller. If so, it picks up the call after the first ring and plays a message to the caller giving them the option of ringing through to you by entering specific numbers, which the robo caller can’t do. You only hear the one ring, and when you do, you know it’s a robo call that’s been intercepted. As you say, not all phone providers allow this, but Spectrum/charter/time warner does, at least in my area. Btw, they have the service for cell phones also, but it’s $1.99/month.

Are Spectrum/Charter/Time Warner VOIP providers? That would be why.

All phone lines are not created equal.

Don't like Wal-Mart for too many reasons. #1 is the way they treat their female help - #1 I don't like buying China crap
Yeah, me either. And WalMart is the only place on the planet that sells China crap.
BTW, how come you have two #1 reasons.
My phone announces who the caller is if it knows. If it doesn't know it will announce, "Unknown caller" or something similar. Those calls I ignore after looking at the number to see if it is one I recognize. The phone also has a button on the bottom row labeled "Block Call". I have been known to use that button. Any future calls from that number will be blocked.

I don't think so. What rock have you been living under?
Even major dept. stores sell brand name products made in China.

Put your numbers on the no call list and you can use the callers except for political and charities. Takes some work but find out who is calling, get corporate info and CEO. Registered mail letter threatening to turn them in to FCC or they can send you money, 5000 seems fair.

My neighbor claims he makes 5 to 15 k a month that way.

If the Feds would enforce the law about that it could help. Also if enforcement had jail time for the caller and the company executives. May be 2weeks in jail for the employee an 2 months for the exec. for 1st time and the go up for repeat offenders. If they move to out of the country then let the feds clock the area codes doing and that country will come down on them.

Call in a threat to the President and there will be people at your door in minutes. However, NOTHING CAN BE DONE to block telemarketers.

Not only Home Depot, but Lowe’s as well. Went to Lowe’s awhile back to buy a couple of outlet strips. ALL were made in China and NONE were UL approved. I passed.

Just about anything you find will have either UL or just as good, ETL safety listing. Good enough for OSHA.

You may find TUV or a couple other acceptable ones as well.

You're out of touch with the times and approved standards.

Some Chinese products are good, some not so much. I recently, after several failures of the same model, opened up the wiring and electronic ballast of a Chinese made aquarium reflector. To my surprise and disgust, I saw that both the power switch and fuse were in the NEUTRAL side of the the incoming AC line (!) that is expressly prohibited and unsafe practice, especially for a device used near or could fall into water. I wrote the selling company (PetSmart) along with images. Never heard back. I bought replacements from a different dealer that were UL and TUV approved.
