Are you tired of all the telemarketers?

So WERE we. We were getting anywhere from ten to twenty telemarketers, robo, political, charity calls a day.
My neighbor told me about a device that he bought and it stopped them all. He found it at Wal-Mart. I don't like that store and shopped on line and Wal-Mart was the closest. I went there and bought one.
It's called a Panasonic Call Stopper. Hook up is incredibly easy. I did it on the first attempt. We went from ten to twenty nuisance calls to zero. Everyone else that wanted to talk to us has no problem but not a single call from a telemarketer. We've had it a week and there are some days where we don't get any calls at all Just wonderful peace and quiet. I wish I had known about this thing years ago. Panasonic Call Stopper, has 14000 reprogrammed calls and room for 2000 of your own. I haven't had to put in any in yet. Cost is about fifty bucks. Best product I've bought in a lot of years.

I'm sorry this thing reads so chopped up but I'm so excited about it and I want all the Hoggers to know about it to . The only bad thing about it is that it is at Wal-Mart.

Do you need a subscription to caller ID?

What about spoofed numbers that are real contacts?

OK, Sounds interesting. We don't quite get 10 to 20 per day, more like 2 to 6. But I wish there were a fix for email and text ads and spam, political ads, political and group surveys, and whatever. There I get hundreds per day. Yes, Wal-mart is kinda scummy.

Caller ID helps but half the legit phone callers have their caller ID turned off or blocked at their end so I still don' know who is calling until I pick it up after they start talking, if they do. Since most of our actually contacts know we primarily use email it is not a real issue ignoring calls. Repeated bogus callers get added to our blocked calls. Spoofing is not a real problem for us as far as I know because the people who know us again know to email or use our Cell numbers.

I use Nomorobo, which is free for home phones and between that and my VOIP service which can be set to ignore calls with no caller ID, that stops over 90% of the robo calls. They have a huge database of robo numbers, and you can add new ones at any time. It’s even blocked all of the political party calls. You hear one ring, and if it’s a known robo number, it intercepts the call. Your phone service needs to provide caller ID (wouldn’t be without it). Not perfect, but free and very effective.

Nomorobo doesn't work with copper landlines.

I suppose if that number is on the list of 14000 it will be blocked but you can unblock any number you care to

There are lots of web sites that claim they can do that but I haven't found a good one yet. Don't like Wal-Mart for too many reasons. #1 is the way they treat their female help - #1 I don't like buying China crap

Those kind of calls the caller expects you to call back. It is in a different country and your phone bill racks up over a hundred dollars a minute. NOw how the caller collects on that I have no idea. That is what PC Magazine claims.

Nomorrobo didn't work for me either. We got two calls today and were able to block them both. Big difference from what we were getting.

But you won't know because you're not getting the calls.....

How about the first question?

My provider, as well as many others do not offer this service. Nothing to do with caller ID, they just flat do not offer it.

This link will tell you if it is available for your phone: https://www.nomorobo.com/signup

The purpose of these is to get you to call back so that you called them, not the other way. Slick move.
