I only watermark stuff I put on my website (lower resolution images), never what I matte (print).
I do the sticker thing also for the prints, but I sign the matte.

This sounds reasonable.

And remember, whatever you use (and most editing software includes the option), that watermarks are like door locks. They keep the honest people out. If you post something, it will be fair game for anyone who wants to grab it for their own use. Just the nature of the world.

Not to be repetitive but a watermark protects nothing unless you put it through the busiest part of the photograph but then the person can't see the photo. Use it when giving someone some proofs. They will be less likely to keep it. As for security, they are useless. Want to keep them posted and secure, post them on a sight that does not allow download and leave off the watermark. As long as they can be downloaded anyone can take them.

Is it possible to Imbed a Hidden watermark? one that does not show on the image without a certain color filter?

Yea, I thought of that, modifying a group of pixels starting at a particular X-Y coordinates in the image, like 500 pixels down and 1500 pixels over. Problem is getting to that numerical X-Y location.....

What good would this do? If you can't see it there would be no point. If you found your shot being used somewhere on the internet would you hold your filter up to the screen to see if it was yours? As long as you have the original file (and, of course you would) you could pursue copyright infringements that you discovered. Again, I just wouldn't bother.

If one changed a bunch of individual pixels to, lets say one's name (and a color) using maybe a 5x7 letter matrix,
it would only be visible if zoomed in to the pixel level, not at a normal print level. Knowing where one starts it would aid in proving that the image is yours. Not visible in normal viewing either. And people will not know to look for it or want to scan ALL of the pixels to see if one exists in the image.

Kinda like the micro-printing words for the signature line of checks.

Most likely though, by the time you found your picture on line the resolution would be such that when blown up enough to read the hidden ID, the resolution would be so bad you couldn't read it anyway.

Yup, LR will add it to the entire export batch so you need not mark every one individually.
