The best / easiest is to embed the watermark merge / application into your Lightroom export preset. If not using LR, pick something cheap / free that runs in batch against your completed images as a final step prior to posting.

Worst case - make a vertical and a horizontal layer and embed the appropriate text in it. You can adjust the opacity to suit your needs. Just flatten all of your layers before you do your last "save"

Most higher end post production software has it built in. I use PaintShop Pro 2020 and it has been integrated for at least the past 3-4-5 updates. Check your Help file.

Thanks to all for the responses. My problem is I'm just an old fart not saavy with photoshop, paintshop etc etc Gotta talk to my kids and grandkids for help. I was hoping to come across some software, preferably free, that would add this to my work. Thanks again

Google 'umark'. Works well and it's free.

If your watermarking for protection don't bother as then can be removed in seconds. If for advertisement there are many free ones. As a LR user it comes with the poackage.

I simply add a script "text" of my name in one editor I use. The text can be moved anywhere in the image and also the color changed to make it less obtrusive. I don't have a logo.

While not free, the new version of Dxophotolab4 has added watermarking

Check out WatermarkPro. I think they also have a free and/or trial version.

And remember, whatever you use (and most editing software includes the option), that watermarks are like door locks. They keep the honest people out. If you post something, it will be fair game for anyone who wants to grab it for their own use. Just the nature of the world.

As some have said, there is not much point in watermarks. They can be easily removed and a few of us find it annoying to take a beautiful picture and put a logo on it. I put a sticker on the back with my contact info for those who might be interested.

I only watermark stuff I put on my website (lower resolution images), never what I matte (print).
I do the sticker thing also for the prints, but I sign the matte.
