I'm not sure why, but I find that ALL the women who are willing to take off their clothes for pictures are charming. A comment was made about less than slender models, and I agree that the stereotypical "model" is great to look at. But I find that there is a beauty and charm in the less than perfect woman that the "model" lacks.

I totally agree, the less than perfect model is the better model. I've always admired Rubens paintings and full figured women/ladies.

Well said. I agree completely.

Paul G and John Frim ---

Basically, I agree. To MY taste, in this section and in the general photography section, there are examples of photography both very appealing – and most appalling! But as I understand it, this website caters to not only the highest-level professionals, but also those who are neophytes – AND – to many and varied tastes and proclivities. Therefore, for my part, it is incumbent upon me to make primarily comments which can be helpful in either positivity or negativity, but allowing as well for the expression of my views if I so desire. It is neither necessary nor desirable to post personal attacks – or proclamations disallowing others’ views as worse than flawed.

I'm feeling kind of bad, now, for my snarky comment.

Buckwheat, I agree with you. I have visited some nude beaches, and one of the great things about them is that people of all sizes, ages etc. are encouraged to feel comfortable with their body types. I can't understand why some people feel the need to attack the model's looks. If they don't like it, just move on. I remember the first time I visited a nude beach and saw a young woman who was so flat-chested that I had to glance down below to be sure she was female. My first thought was, "Good for her to have so much self-confidence that she could display that body." Incidentally, my late wife was a plus size.

The role of a photographer is not to judge, but observe. Observe what poses will bring out the best in a model.

I disagree. As photographers, we "judge" continuously. What to shoot and what we don't. Whether a certain model would work well with our style. Which photos in our set we should keep. Sometimes we are aware of exactly why we make the the judgements we do while others, it is just the way we feel. And it's not always our own photos we judge. Editorial Photography was the most difficult and rewarding course I had in Photo School for this exact reason. The notion of pure objectivity is a chimera. And rightfully so.

I think it’s a very good image, everything works - the hair, the figure, the obvious comfort she has with herself, and the background all combine to create a great image.
