Those grandkids are so very lucky to have you around to show them woodworking skills. I had to quit mine because I was becoming so careless and forgetful about safety. I shot a piece of wood out of my router one afternoon because I passed the wood the wrong way and if one of my grandkids had been standing there, it could've killed them. So 5 secs later, I turned off the switch and have now sold everything. It really shook me up and made me think about what just happened. I am sticking to a safer hobby and teaching them photography, which I retired from doing professionally as a business. Now it's all fun shooting their sports-related activities (but more costly with those 1.4/1.8 lenses).
Anyway, thanks to you for bonding with your grandkids. I can see from their faces that they are really having a great time.

They're cutting out figures on thin cardboard using a scroll saw which is about the equivalent of using a sewing machine. When they're actually working with wood they wear both eye and ear protection and never use the heavy duty equipment (table saw) which is what Grandpa uses. Safety is important in our shop.

I know what you mean about the router - it requires just as much attention as one of the big tools. Chuck has had a couple near-misses with one of his fingers which really served to make him more careful
