Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VRii

I use mine quite a bit. It's always on my second camera with my D4 or D500. Great lens.

Hi Jbravi - I have the 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8 and the 70-200/2.8 VRii. I, as you, use the 24-70 most of the time but for those situations where I need the reach and/or extreme DOF, I use the 70-200. It is an OUTSTANDING piece of glass! Tack sharp. Color rendition is incredible And the VR works wonderfully when I need it (but most of the time it's on a monopod or tripod though). Those three lenses are all I need on my two D810's. Oh, I also have a Nikon 1.7 extender. It's expensive but when I want the reach during shooting and do not want to crop in post, I use it with the 70-200. In extreme situations, I will switch the D810 over to DX with the 1.7 mounted on the 70-200 to see what I am shooting. I still get tack sharp images with all that hardware connected. But honestly, most of the time I will crop in post as the 36MP is more than enough to give me sharp, decently cropped images. Good luck with your decision!

Don't discount the 70-200 f4. It is also very sharp and comes with less weight and price. I have the ver. I in the 2.8 as well and find I use the f4 more often.

I love that lens. Its great for lower light indoor sports and I've used it quite a bit for close-ups

I had a lot of Nikon lens over the years, but when I went to the Z series, I got rid of all of my lenses except the 24-70 f/2.8 (using adapter). I kept it until I could get the Z model.(f/4)...but then the travel stopped and I have not pulled the trigger. Now with the 24-200 getting favorable reviews, don't know what I will do...except that until I can get back to traveling, may sit on the sidelines.

Finally, I pulled the trigger. Ordered one from Adorama 70-200 F2.8 FL VR

I have an old one - that is my go to lens for most outdoor sports (Football, Baseball, & Soccer). 24-70 2.8 for indoor sports (Basketball, & Volleyball). They are both great for what I use them for. Sports may not be what you shoot. But both are GREAT lens. Yes, they are both HEAVY

I have the trinity and I find that I use the 70-200 as much as the 24-70 if not more. My goal is to fill the frame and that focal length makes it easier especially on an FX body. I also shoot with a D850 which can make you develop bad habits in terms of cropping so I think every serious photographer would really appreciate a 70-200 in his arsenal.
