Summer in Iceland - 21 - Austurland/East Region - Berufjördur mountains & aquaculture
I am wending my way in the Eastern region from Djupivogur around the Berufjördur fjord towards the eventual overnight stop in Egilsstadur, along numerous fjords and inlets in a pristine sea and mountain symbiosis. In this set we gaze at the blue waters of the Berufjördur fjord and see from afar a maritime farm practising aquaculture for cod and salmon, surrounded by craggy mountains.

Another leg of a wonderful journey, Joe. Clearly blue ear tags are the rage.

Hi Barbara - sorry I messed up in the posting of this set, I must have hit "Send" when I was just 4 pictures into the loading.... Thanks for looking into the second set as well. Here is my answer to your questions that you posted on the first set, which was: "Iceland is apparently a rugged, but beautiful land. Am I wrong in thinking the mountains are not very high?"
Definitely Iceland is rugged and beautiful. The mountains at the coast are not as high as the mountains further inland. The mountains that we see in this set are about 1000 m / 3300 ft high, while the higest mountains go over 2000 m / 6600 ft. But we also have to remember that these coastal mountains start at sea level, not rising up from an already elevated altitude. Thanks for looking again and your comment. Joe
Absolutely beautiful images of a beautiful country Joe!! Very well done.
