Was in that area back in August. Stayed at an Airbnb in Westcliffe and used that as a pivot point to traverse some beautiful country. Have a number of photos of the Arkansas River, many with people rafting. Thank you for the memory jog.

Arkansas River about 15mi south west of Canon City Colorado.

A beautiful photograph. I know that area well having lived 10 miles up Rt. 9 for about 20 years. Do you live there or just passing through. Great fishing and rafting country.

Nothing wrong with the image. I finally see water in its natural form, not the silky appearance of ND filters.

That was some time ago for burros in the street in Cripple Creek. That town was, as you probably know, an old gold mining town that was on its last legs. Then the people of Colorado approved gambling in that town as well as a couple of others. The town picked up like crazy economically but is no longer a quaint little town as it used to be. I haven't been there now for many years either but do go to Canon City at least once a year to hunt and fish and visit with old friends I worked with at DOC, Department of Corrections. DOC is THE industry of that part of Colorado.

Next time you get out that way be sure to visit O'Haver Lake. It is West on 50 along the Arkansas River to Salida. Then through Salida another couple of miles until you come to Poncha Springs at the light. Take a left and go down Hwy. 285 about 7 miles. Then take the right turn to O'Haver Lake. It is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful mountain scenes you will see especially in the Fall. You can Google it to see photos. Worth the trip IF you are already in the area.

Subject choice can be a great savior. Great choice and nice job. Nothing like setting a high bar for yourself with the first pic!
I've never seen a part of the Arkansas River that looked like that! :)
