I use a stock background on the opening screen of my iPhone XR that I found on a "wallpaper" app in the Apple store...

I have a few images I use as wallpaper. The lock screen has my wife and the background screen is my cat and my daughter's dog in the garden.

I also have a number of ringtones I generated from snippets of music I like. Bach, Brahms, Bartok, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, and others. They are also useful as timer notifications. My only complaint about the iPhone is that the ringtones are limited to about 30 seconds.

The problem with using enjoyable music as a ringtone is that you don't want to answer a call.

Yup, I use my own, but it is tough to find images that work...

You can think of it as a self challenge if you like. I can't use many of the pics I take for this, but sometimes I am pleasantly surprised.

'fraid I see no refrence in the original post to anyone's "pc desktop", only phone wallpaper, and acoarst some of us do enjoy a little individuality that makes us "diffrent from t' norm" ....... chacun à son goût, amigo !!

In my case, the same private narcissistic tendency that makes me want to see my work every time i see my phone also causes me to use my pics as desktop screens. Due to dimension differences of the two, I can shower myself with more personal praise and bask in personal glory. Ah, me me me! 😇

There is only indirect reference. Easy to ignore it. No one can force you to see it.

Thanks for tuning into my inner psyche and further exploring the dimensions of this subject.

I change mine occasionally, but I have to be careful about the colors making the on-screen icons invisible.

You're absolutely right, Sir.

I use a photo of me on my bike at a track day as a reminder of the good time I had that day.

You go, Bill! How does one get the shot; someone uses your phone to get b you on the way around?

iPad - taken from a balcony in Harrisonburg, VA in 2016 with Nikon P900 at 1000mm.
I find them both quite soothing.

Both excellent examples of intelligent uses of good photos.

My lock screen is our house taken in 1910 and the use screen is my wife.

Fantastic. Where did the 1910 house photo come from?

You're right, ring tones are a continuation of the phenomenon of using your art to personalize your interface with the world.

You're the second person who pints out the wisdom of keeping a spouse picture right there with you.

Also, have you put that cat and dog photo on the animal challenge yet? It's very good.
