I use my photos and photoshopped pieces for my cell phone wallpaper, and was curious whether others do as well. If so, what kinds of pics work best for you? I've found something that has a dark area where the time shows on the lock screen, works best for me. Also, of course, I need something not too busy so I won't have trouble finding my widgets.

Here are a few screenshot examples. Please feel free to add examples also.

I just use the stock background image since I have time/temp/weather and eight primary icons which would cover over 50% of an image, with a bunch of icons on secondary screens. But I do have a bunch of photos in the gallery on the phone.

I know about the overcrowded effect. The sample shots are on a page from which I've moved all the icons I could.

Still, you're a pretty good photographer, so ill bet you could pull it off.

It's a highly subjective thing, I've found - but I've been using such pics on my phones for years - here's a few that fit subtly behind a bunch of phone icons that I don't mind sharing .......

Yup, I use my own, but it is tough to find images that work...

My PC desktop image shows many friends together doing what makes me happier than anything else. So when I boot the PC it puts me in a good head space. It’s not there to show off my skills. It’s there to make me smile. The desktop icons are placed in accordance with the content of the desktop image, so they don’t obscure anything. OTOH I would never personalize my phone, in any way, whatsoever. Stock background, default ringtone, etc etc.

'fraid I see no refrence in the original post to anyone's "pc desktop", only phone wallpaper, and acoarst some of us do enjoy a little individuality that makes us "diffrent from t' norm" ....... chacun à son goût, amigo !!

There is only indirect reference. Easy to ignore it. No one can force you to see it.

I change mine occasionally, but I have to be careful about the colors making the on-screen icons invisible.

I use a photo of me on my bike at a track day as a reminder of the good time I had that day.

iPhone - waterfalls in Sabino Canyon, Tucson taken with iPhone in 2009.
iPad - taken from a balcony in Harrisonburg, VA in 2016 with Nikon P900 at 1000mm.
I find them both quite soothing.

My lock screen is our house taken in 1910 and the use screen is my wife.
