The only batteries I use in my strobes is Duracell. They last a considerably long time and shelf storage is incredibly long.

Eveready cells are great for things like electric motors, etc. It seems Duracell works well in static applications, Eveready in things that move.

Duracell batteries aren't good as they don't last long. My wife purchases them f/Costco 4 my flashlights & by the time i reach 1/2 the case, the rest are dead?

My usual source for Nikon batteries (B&H), will not ship them here as it needs to be delivered by air. This seems to be standard operating procedure for li-ion batteries lately. With no camera store in my vicinity, getting Nikon brand batteries is impossible. There is 1 retailer Batteries Bulbs + that can order batteries but it is the Duracell brand. The Nikon EN-EL15 specs are: 7.0v, 1900 mAh, 14 Wh.
The Duracell: 7.4v, 1600 mAh,
11.8 Wh.
Is the Duracell okay to use in my D810 a d D750?
My preference is Nikon but in the absence of availability, what can I do.
Thank you for your electrical expertise.

The smaller figures for mAh (milliampere hours) and Wh (watt hours) means the battery won't last as long between charges compared to the Nikon battery. Otherwise should work fine. Batteries Plus markets it for Nikon cameras, so it should be ok.

My Nikon Z6 will only accept Nikon batteries, rejects OEM batteries.
My D610 and D750 accepted non Nikon batteries

Will Amazon ship to Alaska? I bought some RAVPower EN-EL14 and EN-EL15a batteries from Amazon a year ago and they seem pretty equivalent to my original Nikon batteries for my Df and D850.

I am using a Duracell for my Canon 60D, and have no quibbles. I’ve had it for about a year now. It has about the same difference in specs as the one you’re considering.

Some non Nikon batteries are not recommended for some Nikon bodies.
I found 4 Nikon Authorized Dealers in Alaska. I am sure one of them can mail you a battery.
Alaska Camera in Fairbanks
Harry Race Pharmacy and Photo in Sitka
Rapid exposure in Denali Natl. Park
Stewarts Photo Inc. in Anchorage
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

Billnikon: Alaska Camera went out of business several months ago. Rapid Exposure's phone number is disconnected. The other two close at 6pm so I will look at them tomorrow. Thank you.

I have two Nikon EN-EL 15 batteries that came with each of my cameras, D7100 and D7200, and I bought two more Vivitar brand batteries on Amazon. The Nikon batteries are rated at 1900 mAh and the Vivitar batteries are rated at 2500 mAh. The Vivitar batteries are less than half the cost of the Nikon, more like one-third the cost. So far, I have not had any problems with them.

However, when my D7200 came back from Nikon from service, it came back with a note from Nikon warning me about using other than Nikon-branded batteries.

Both bodies are factory refurbs and, therefore, have no more warranty that can be voided. So , I'm not concerned about that.

When in doubt, always use OEM. It is smart insurance to use components designed for your $3000 piece of gear. Off-brands are not tested to work as intended by Nikon's power management system.

I think that you missed the point. The OP said he can't get OEM batteries delivered to Alaska and was inquiring about using an alternative manufacturer's battery which is available to him.

But the OP’s question is “Nikon vs OEM”.

The question was framed sloppily. It should have read "Nikon OEM vs Third-Party knock-off batteries?"

I didn't miss his point. My point was if using generic knock-offs on sensitive electronics was a risk to take because of price and logistics, then how chagrined are you going to be needing to send that same fritzed-out camera back along that same Pony Express supply chain for out-of-warranty repairs? Alaska is already the most expensive state in the Union to live. Why ham-string yourself using sub-prime components? Order extra OEM batteries and wait. I have six Nikon OEM batteries to back- up my D850. You think I would hazard a $3300 camera body to save $10 or $15 on a battery? Also how did those Duracell lithiums get into Alaska?
Nikon is a smart company. When they say use their batteries for power management purposes; take them at their word.
But like most issues on this site, there is always a cadre of conspriracy-minded cuss's who insist on hacking a technical point to the breaking point and in the end, are not really good Nikon customers. They are Duracell customers.

I work with laptops and we use off brand replacement batteries, I agree Duracell is a good brand, the difference in milliamp hours could mean shorter life but if that is what you have available I would go with it, I use off brand batteries in my Nikons and have not noticed a big difference, my brother in law works in the aircraft industry and he said that they are not shipping batteries by air because they have caught fire on the planes causing crashes, I know from experience that when those batteries catch fire they are hard to put out and keep put out as they can reignite

I have made it clear on several occasions that I am not a fan of 3rd party batteries. In my experience, all of the ones I have purchased have either created operational problems or simply fallen short on performance. On the other hand, I have an older Dell laptop, for which I ordered a genuine replacement battery through my local dealer. It was fine at first, but almost immediately started decaying, according to my battery management program. It had clearly been sitting on the shelf, either at Dell or at whoever they use for a distributor, for an extended time. So there is no absolute guarantee with OEM batteries, either.

In the OP's case, though, he is facing a couple of different concerns. First, since lithium batteries cannot be shipped by air (and since air is the only viable way to get things like that to Alaska), he may not have a viable alternative. Sounded to me like he was just verifying no damage, not seeking endorsement. (I have a ProMaster EnEL15 which works, but will not reset the shot counter in any of my cameras that use it, including the D810.) Second, Nikon's first redesign of this battery was to deal with reduced performance under various environmental conditions. Environmental conditions in Alaska can be just about as 'various' as you can get. I would expect that, like my ProMaster, there will likely be some reduction in performance compared to the optimized Nikon battery. It's something to be aware of, but there may be no choice here.
