It might have if you had been oppressed all your life. I recently was on the North Slope of Alaska and in the Canadian Arctic filming a documentary. The Inuit there are extremely poor and do not have, in their own native land, the benefits that accrue to the white settlers. It's easy to be tolerant as long as you are in a privileged position...

I didn't know Eskimo was derogatory. Who decides these things?

From Fox News
“We are committed to being a part of the solution on racial equality, and recognize the term is derogatory,” said Elizabell Marquez, head of marketing for its parent Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, the U.S. subsidiary for Froneri, in a statement to FOX Business in June. “This move is part of a larger review to ensure our company and brands reflect our people values.”

I guess it's time to change the name of our group! Ugly surely offends some hedge hogs! Maybe we can be know as Hedge Hog Insights or something like that. Yes PC is totally out of hand and each victory they have will just strengthen the movement to change more until everything is plain vanilla or is that statement too white -- is there a name for a no color ice cream?

Excellent point. 👍
We should all respect the feelings of others whether we agree/understand or not.

The word 'Squaw' is also being removed as not PC.

Does that mean the Algonquins were racist?

Speaking of "white or black", I don't remember which photography book I was reading, but when I first started to learn things about photography I read that according to the color spectrum, "white and black" are both the result of lack of color. Wouldn't that be confusing for a lot of people today?

Someone was wrong. Black is the lack of color, white is all colors. If you don't believe me look at a prism in sunlight.

What if all the history, sociology and political science majors would just burn their books? That would be the end of the micro aggressions.

The only people who are "privileged" are the ones who have worked their asses of to provide a good, comfortable living for themselves and their families. And the ones who were lucky enough to inherit. The Inuit were happy and well fed (which meant privileged) until settlers showed up and told them they were not. And started selling them alcohol. Being "white" doesn't impart privilege to any one. I'm the third son in a family of twelve kids with a truck driver father and a stay at home mother. I didn't see any privilege in my life until I got a job and started working my ass off. And I didn't inherit anything except a strong work ethic!

It does bother me. Especially when, if I responded with the "N" word, I would get strung up in a tree somewhere. I guess a tree would be better than a lamp post.
