Well not a scientific experiment, since I used different lenses and settings, for Canon, the Sigma 105mm, f2.8; on the Sony the Sigma 70mm, 2.8f. The Sigma 105 mm is newer and an Art Lens.
So I don't think we can draw any conclusions here; nevertheless the extra resolution in the Sony maybe brings more detail.
It'd be more interesting if I had the R5, but alas I don't have it.
Enjoy!

Yeah had to use s sheet of paper which interfered with the color.
The background color of the canon is more accurate

Do you have something to contribute or negativity is your contribution?

So for you there is no difference?

Wow!

Interesting comparison, but this is apples vs oranges. Has any seen a R6 vs A7R mk2 shoot out comparing feature to feature? Not that it would prove anything since we all have our own brand loyalty, and yes I'm a Canon user but my first love is Pentax...and niche player these days.

Sorry, but that is a legitimate question.

For a better comparison with respect to IQ it would have been better if both were shot with same settings. ISO is considerably higher on the Canon, for example.

I think that this is as much a test of two different lenses mixed with two different camera resolutions. Either the R6 is a bad camera choice or the lens does not compete with a macro lens for close up work. Thanks for the post, but there are many variables here. The canon image is no where quite in focus which makes me suspect a lens issue.

Are you using a macro lens with both cameras? If not, the lens difference would count more than the camera.

I think your technique may may be the reason for the diff. Both lenses are more than adequate.

Cannot be compared. Notice the gross exposure difference, 1/30@iso1600 and 1/80@iso500, same aperture. About 2.5 stops. There’s nothing to discuss.

Notice the settings in use.
Neither is more accurate.
Comparison is impossible.

Both Sigma lenses are macro, as I said in my original post the Sigma 105mm is older than the Sigma 70mm.
