Wind at 40 MPH with some places getting gusts way above that. Dry conditions and some fire assets out of state to help others. Huge fires with 2 thousand fire fighters that would normally have 6 thousand if we had the assets. Some towns gone.

Thanks for this post, Harold!
If everyone horrified at what you are going through with these climate fires would demand that our government rejoin the world in addressing and combatting climate change, the occurrence of such horrors could eventually be reduced!

Very frightening Harold. It seems like each day we have new out of control fires all over the west. Hopefully you guys will get a little rain Mon or Tues. None for us until November! Stay safe!

So sorry that the fires are not the only tragedy being experienced in Oregon.

Looked that dark here on Saturday. Pollution index 490! Today, September 14 pollution index is 305- still dangerous but I can see about 1/4 mile now. This really s a terrible event. The West Is Burning!

We found this leaf in the yard today. It's not from our place. We think it is from the fire. A bit sobering to find a scorched leaf over a mile from the fire. Could have dropped off one of the many fire vehicles going by but it was in the yard not near the road.

Could have been a "hot" ember in the leaf. It is so dry in the West this Summer that almost anything is causing fires!
