I have two questions

#1 - Does the Nikon D750 have the Auto Fine Tune feature [ Like the D850 ]

# 2 - When doing the Auto Fine Tuning on my Nikon lenses do I use the Auto Focus function or can I use the Manual focus ring to focus?
What is the best way to do this?

Yes, the D750 does have the auto fine tune feature for your lenses. The best advice I can offer is to check out YouTube videos until you find video that you feel gives you the best instruction. I did purchase lens focus calibration scale to help. I paid less than $10 dollars and it does what I want it too. Youtube can show you how to do it with a ruler. It will take a little time to accomplish but it's worth knowing that your lenses and camera are working at their optimum for you.

Good luck!!

Are you having problems with unfocused images? I have never had to fine focus adjust any of my Nikon lenses.

I have a D750. It does have AF fine tuning. You use auto focus when checking. I use the DataColor SpyderLensCal to check my camera and lens combinations. You put the camera in single point AF and autofocus on the square to the left of the scale. I was just recently checking my Nikon 80-400mm AF-S lens on my D7500. It was extremely consistent throughout the entire zoom range. No AF fine tuning was needed. Nikon warns against AF fine tuning as it can interfere with AF. Fortunately, all of my lenses are very close to perfect on my camera bodies. I have used small AF fine tuning amounts though.

This is my Nikon 80-400mm lens at 310mm. The zero on the scale should be in the best focus

#1- NO.
#2- IMHO it is not worth the time fine tuning any lens if your results are good now.

"Are you having problems with unfocused images? I have never had to fine focus adjust any of my Nikon lenses."

This is something that I see pretty often in this forum. In my more than 55 years using Nikon cameras and lenses I never ever had to adjust a lens.
If I had, for sure camera and lens will be going to Nikon for the adjustments.

Steve Perry has a great video and ebook on the subject. It would be worth your while to understand the Nikon autofocus system before you start. The ebook will tell you the pros and cons of adjusting and the proper way of proceeding.

You say "NO" yet others are saying yes. Do you own a D 750? Who is correct here, all the others saying yes or you saying no?

The D750 has tuning but it’s manual not auto

I test my lenses using the process that Steve Perry outlines in his ebook. Most of my lenses need no correction except my 50mm f1.8. That one requires a -5 correction on my D850. I also check my lenses for chromatic abortion but that is another topic. It really doesn't take that long and once you have gone thru the process once you are essentially done unless you drop the lens or whack it against something hard.

If you want to consistently take great photographs, testing your equipment is an essential part of the process.

Direct from Nikon Support re Fine Tuning Nikon D750: " https://www.nikonimgsupport.com/eu/BV_article?articleNo=000006300&configured=1&lang=en_GB"

As I have typically shot anything from a D300S up to the D850 to include the 750 with a variety of lenses & having spoken at length with a retiree of Nikon...Camera bodies like Nikon are made in 1 location, When sensors are placed it is a best effort, A set of settings is used in the firmware...Camera Lenses are made in a different location (in the case of the 500mm F/5.6 made by hand, Again settings are a best effort. There is no way a lens can be matched to every single camera made.

I decided to go with FoCal software which does the "fine tuning" through software hooked to the camera & specific lens being used. Software updates are available as new bodies/lenses introduced

55 years of Nikon ? The AF fine tuning in your day was not built into the camera for benefit of the user. It was only performed, when needed, by an optometrist.

There’s no auto tuning in my own 750, just the regular adjustments.

None of my lenses, screw drive or lens motor, Nikkor or third party, has ever needed adjusting. AFAIK lenses aren’t user adjustable anyway.

OTOH both my 610 and 750 bodies do require AF adjustments quite routinely when new lenses join the kit.

Total kit is 8 AF lenses and 2 bodies so thaz 16 AF accuracy tests. No lens has ever been a problem. It has been the body in every instance as for each lens the calibration settings for the 610 and the 750 will differ.

"...When doing the Auto Fine Tuning on my Nikon lenses... What is the best way to do this?" tca2267 only CO provided a meaningful response...

I would suggest you review the knowledge latent within these links and ignore all the uncorroborated opinions posted in this thread...

https://photographylife.com/how-to-calibrate-lenses
https://www.dpreview.com/news/3468248279/nikons-automated-af-fine-tune-explained

Also Steve Perry is a highly knowledgeable photographer, you would benefit from studying his posts on AF and this "AF Fine Tune" feature

It is truly shameful that the amount of misinformation on UHH which is allowed...

Final thoughts? The Nikon D780 is now the first Nikon DSLR which provides the epic feature of AF Fine Tune at both ends of a Zoom Optic! This is a major improvement since only primes could be "Fine Tuned" with certainty... This is a HUGH improvement over the D750...

https://blog.reikanfocal.com/2020/02/nikon-d780-secret-new-calibration-feature/

btw, mirrorless actually focuses correctly as does LiveView so it needs no Fine Tuning...

Hope this helps tca2267...
All the best on your epic photographic journey...
