I think some people buy new equipment thinking they won't have to take the time to learn and practice.

GAS seems to be a widespread phenomenon which has not been easily reproduced in the laboratory or in focus groups, especially when spouses are present. In the wild it is especially noticed in the area of photography. It is believed that it originated as the byproduct of contact with silver nitrate, and has survived even to the day of digital cameras. Most researchers do not hold out much hope for a cure in the foreseeable future.

GAS is not designed or intended to be cured - x - only treated! I have been treating mine in excess of 50 years.

I’m not sure if this is should be a general statement. People like myself read the manual. It took me 3 days to read the manual for my camera before I unpacked it. Other people (who don’t read the manual) just yank it out of the box and start to finagle with their new toy.
Those who don’t read the manual are more prone to GAS. With my new camera, if I’m not sure of a particular capability, I’ll open up my cell phone and read the manual I downloaded.
While every new gadget or thingamabob may look nice but you still have to schlep it around. I only have two hands. If I get a third hand, maybe I’ll give into a GAS attack.

Happy Shooting!

Now a day with the internet I downloaded and read the manual before I bought the camera. The manual would tell me a lot about whether I like the camera or not.

Just received my “new” 150mm Hasselblad lens from KEH labeled BGN it’s perfect. I think my 60 plus year Hasselblad collection is complete. Now I have to get out and use it. A real GAS attack.

Photography and golf are identical.
You need professional instruction to master the basics.
You need to practice to get great results.
When you fail to achieve your goals- - you go out and buy new equipment for instant success!!
