He used to call himself “that Nikon guy” that was his web site and also how he got his start. His followers got used to that.

Two items, First the Nikon mount is new to Nikon. The Canon RF mount is 1mm smaller that means 1/2mm on each side which is imperceptible. Thus it has no intrinsic superiority over other mounts. It is just 30 years late in growing up and catching up. Second Nikon is still struggling with AF speed on the Z cameras compared to the DPAF II now available that is demonstrably faster and more accurate.
That said Nikon has done well and is starting to catch up, they make a good solid general perform=ing product in the Z system currently and it will get better as time goes by.
But the mount by today's standards is pretty normal.

You have to look at not just the throat size of the mount, but the flange distance as well. Nikon’s is 4mm closer that coupled with the greater throat diameter, (and the inner throat diameter, the important one, is 1.4mm larger), mean that the angle of incidence for the Z mount is over 22% gtreater than for the RF.

I was Nkon fanatic from college to when my older son entered college. He is now 32.
Then I switched to Canon 5DMK3 with Canon L lenses because when I subscribed to the Digital Camera mag, British edition, I observed that most of their European photographers use Canon Camera and lenses.
I have noticed the difference in Canon L optics and I thought the price is commensurate to its innovative excellence. I still like my camera but I needed a second one for travel.

Sony had evolved from its Minolta prototype and their technical superiority have surpassed that of Nikon and Canon. I read an article not too long ago that Nikon uses Sony sensors for their DSLRs.

Canon is making strides to compete with Sony but they are definitely strides apart. Sony listens to its herd of professional followers and has been very receptive to suggestions. My Sony A7RIII has not failed me and I have used it in my travels to South America and the Baltic. It is water resistant and I have used it without cover when we were tendered from the MV Australis to the nearby glaciers, and also during our adventure at Perito Moreno Glacier. It is not as bulky as my 5DMK3 and the Sony 24-240 mm lens fit just perfectly.

Although it is enticing to buy the R5, I will stick with my Sony for now. I just used it during my workshop for Milky Way 2 weeks ago and I had the most spectacular shot by the waterfalls in Adirondack. This time my lens was the Sigma 14-24 mm F2.8 Art lens.

Interesting photo.
Too bad it has all that crap all over it.
Sony is definitely for me if I was induced to have messed up photos as shown.

Who cares? Why is my opinion (or yours) relevant to what somebody else thinks or is doing?

This is a forum. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion whether we agree or not. And it may not be relevant to anyone else. We just respectfully reply or move on to another thread. I do a lot of moving on.

Funny how so many people who don't care find a need to let everybody know it.

My kit is Canon but...he can dump his kit at my front door and I'll make sure he'll never have to worry about his Nikon gear. Hell, I'll even pay for shipping!
I started with a Canon kit and have stayed with it so I can use my whole kit at any time without having to carry more than one bag to a shoot i can adapt...

Also professionals can write off purchases of new equipment on their taxes as a business expense. And maybe even claim a depreciation on the old equipment they sell.

Professionals can EITHER write off the purchase price as a 729 deduction, OR depreciate the cost - salvage value over 5 years. If they sell, they report a loss if the sale generated less than the residual value of the equipment, or a gain if greater than the residual value. No maybe about it.
