A Television Commercial That Breaks My Heart

We have an older 'junkyard orphan' who had been dumped at a corner store. I couldn't describe her as good looking and she seemed to know that. In her younger years she went into heat and all of a sudden, we had several male dogs lined up outside the fence--like a Saturday night at the Chicken Ranch! We took fairly good care of her. She seemed to hate a bath so she smelled but I also hated to force her. Later, she had some skin problems and ear bugs too. I recently got all that fixed and she's now started to enjoy being touched, so maybe they too have PTSD! On the other hand we also have 4 cats. When one passes, it's not a week later that another just moves in! It's like they know a sucker house and they do take over! Luckily we practice planned parenthood with all!

I wish everyone would adopt a pet. IMHO, Saving the life of a furry beast is the first step for everyone getting along.

You’re a good person. Both my daughters have rescue dogs.

I’m watching a television show and a commercial comes on. The spokesperson asks for people to adopt a sheltered dog or cat. About five years ago my wife and I decided to do that. We adopted a small underweight puppy who we thought was Albino. Now after a hard stressful day at work, Bentley doesn’t know what is going on in the world, can’t read a newspaper or watch TV. All he cares about is the attention and love he gets. He gives so much too!

I wish that people who watch this commercial adopt a pet and change its life forever. I would like to adopt more but I have a small house and not enough room.

Bentley is now a 70 pound Labrador/Dalmatian mix. All his spots are on his belly. Besides, he likes a good long belly rub.
I’m watching a television show and a commercial co... (show quote)

You should buy a Bently for bently

Do you know how to tell, who loves you more, your wife or your dog?? Lock both in the trunk of your car for1 hour. When you open the trunk, see who is happy to see you.

I don't watch any commercials, especially that kind. As a matter of fact, I'm not even reading your post because I did a quick scan, and suspect it's not bright and happy. No offense. I'm trying to stay happy during these trying times.

My neighbor shot my 5 yr old GSD in my yard a year and a half ago. The neighbor has been taken care of with two misdemeanor convictions and a civil lawsuit costing him about $100,000.

Gretchen was a high end GSD we dearly loved. She was my wife’s dog. Wife passed away from ALS 2 1/2 years ago. Her successor, Elsa, is a rescue GSD. Got her a couple weeks after losing Gretchen. More of a working class model but just as loving. Had a few behavior issues but now adapted.

Pic is her with new wife and great granddaughters in my SCUBA unit. ( Self Contained Ultimate Biohazard Avoidance). Took it across State (250 miles) to biggest great’s 5th birthday.

They are the best. They show us the way with unconditional love and trust. We have had many and still have one and 2 cats. Thanks for caring for him.

I understand. If I offended or saddened you I am apologizing with my open heart.

During these trying times, during the political mud-throwing and all the other $*#¥T I have seen I just prefer to curl up with Bentley. He is always wagging his tail and giving me a good face licking no matter what mood I’m in

I can only wish that someone who rescues a cat or dog does so for the love they can share together. Perhaps, just maybe if we received and gave unconditional love to all, this may be a better place. We may even kill off the virus pandemic

Yes, we have adopted two dogs. I find that they are more fun than the thoroughbreds we had.

It may be worth it, but owning a dog costs a lot of money. Vet fees are very high, good food is expensive, boarding when you want to travel costs a lot. If you have a breed that needs professional grooming, add that to the mix.

As with many other things in life including photography we all, if we are responsible, operate within the paramenters of responsibility. You wrote "It may be worth it" For Scrupes, his dog is worth it to him. I am sure that he is aware of the costs but the benefits his dog brings to him and his family outweight these costs. If you feel that the benefits of having a dog is not worth the costs, then whatever dog that you own or consider owning would probably be better off if it lived somewhere else. And if you think a dog is expensive, have you looked at what it costs to raise a kid these days?
