The head of USPS is a Trump appointee. He recently got rid of a lot of the higher-ups and put on a hiring freeze to fill the vacanies. Trump wants to stop mail in ballets. This current mail situation was predicted

Wow! Did you think that up all on your own?

There have been links posted to support this and regardless, the info is readily available for any to pursue....don't forget to add the no OT, so if the work isn't completed, oh well.

Do you think it's maybe to keep the USPS from going bankrupt and modernizing their antiquated ways. It's rare that I have any issues with the USPS and when I do, I consider their volume and (often dumb) mandates. It's really not much to do with Trump, or voting, and it's not a conspiracy. Perhaps Trump wants to see the USPS run like a good business. Best of luck.

UHH folks, don’t forget legislation from 2001 to the present. Starting in 2001 all of Congress, both Dems and Reps passed legislation concerning the financing of the USPS retirement plan and future healthcare costs of retirees. A certain percentage of USPS profits must first go to cover the USPS retirement plan and retiree future healthcare costs before any other expenses are covered. This year I believe 5.6 billion dollars are allocated to this fund before any other USPS operating expenses are covered. Blame the Congress both Dems and Reps for this. The Presidents Bush and Obama both signed this legislation. This I believe was done before Trump was elected, so don’t blame Trump.

The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, which requires the Postal Service to prepay health and medical benefits for 75 years was passed into law in 2006. Bothe the Legislative and Executive Branches were controlled by republicons at the time. President Obama had nothing to do with it

The issues have been going on for decades and all of the sudden, along with the complaints over mail in ballots, Trump had nothing to do with this. Really? His hand picked appointee did this all by himself? That's not how the micro manager works and you know it. Apparently you haven't bothered to do three or four minutes of research to broaden your views.

You do realize that the USPS retirement fund was underfunded at that time and it was just a matter of time before they faced an even bigger financial crisis. They were taking funds earmarked for the retirement fund for general spending. That’s like robbing your 401k to pay for current bills. Not a good strategy as then you have nothing to retire on. If this hadn’t been done, retirees would have nothing in their retirement savings .

I won't go into a listing of all the ills of the USPS without also giving praise and pointing to blame. Every country has a national postal service. Our USPS is caught between politicians who want to abolish it so private companies can take over this potentially lucrative business and the people who want delivery of their checks, medicine, etc. as well as packages in a timely fashion.

I use the USPS for my business. UPS leaves packages at the door, garage door or on the floor of an apartment building - no place for something valuable! Can't use them. FedEx earned a reputation for the speed and quality of service, but at a price. My customers are expecting 'free shipping'. I"m happy to compete in a "level playing field" where all the players have an equal chance. Some would call this "the American Dream" of, for example starting your small business and earning a living. I can't compete with deep discounts given to a walmart, amazon or overseas small sellers who can ship something for $0.99 selling price with "free shipping" (from China!!!). This must change! For the benefit of all Americans.

Everything is 'broken' now, or is actively being broken (without being political) - water pollution, air pollution, 5+ million Covid cases and rising, stealing from Medicare/Social Security trust fund to give some relief to the unemployed while also trying to eliminate healthcare coverage for pre-existing health conditions (like Covid-19!!!). We need the USPS 'fixed'. They should not be giving our money to third party companies for printing postage labels at home or a small business. They should not give massive discounts for volume shippers while smaller American businesses must pay 'retail' prices for basic services. They deserve to either be supported by the Federal Government as a vital part of our country's infrastructure OR be set completely free from the government to run their business as a business without the congressional 'fiddling' with anything to do with the business of the USPS.

Until then, the USPS is slowing down, overtime is being eliminated, more things are getting 'lost' in the mail, the Delivery Signature service is being forgotten, workers are demoralized and retail customers and small businesses are paying for the large shippers and small international sellers.

Watch the news. A lot of this stuff is intentional, by top-level management.

The postoffice is what it is. In my town it's great and the people are great. Mail coming in goes thru one of two locations with us and we find it generally take an extra week to get thru them. Good and bad depending the location or locations it goes thru. I'm 6 days late on a package now.

Get used to it, Trump is reallocating post office money and making further cuts.
So people can't use mail in voting.
Something people here in Arizona use when it is 100 in the shade and a 3 hour waiting
line outside. We must register at the DMV or a registration office to have our voting
rights checked. Unless you are a Republican then they mail in forms for us to register
to vote. The other parties can't do that.
But the Republicans are against mail in voting, Bull

Yeah, don't blame Trump for throwing gas on the fire to stir up more discontent in his war against mail in ballots.

but things may get worse as we get closer to the election. In an interview with Fox, Trump seems to say that he wants to withhold any more support from USPS because it would help mail-in voting.

The problem with mail in voting is that they would mail out ballots to every registered voter, even if those voters were dead or had moved...Plus the ballots that are not properly filled out are another source of contention...

The PO could go a long way toward solving its problems by raising the rates for junk mail.
That may help to eliminate a bunch of junk mail too.

I work for the board of elections and know g F it a fact that mail in ballots are only sent to those who request them. They are not, I repeat NOT, mailed to every registered voter.

I would think different states have different rules. I know here absentee ballot requests went out to all register voters.
