Agreed, but sending out b****ts to every registered v**er would require them to be returned for counting prior to E******n Day or there would be the possibility of duplicate b****ts cast. That would then indicate v***r f***d.

in v****g is that they would mail out b****ts to every registered v**er, even if those v**ers were dead or had moved...Plus the b****ts that are not properly filled out are another source of contention...

Maybe in some states.

Even v**ers like me - who are automatically qualified {because I am over 65} - have to request a mail-in b****t in ruby-red Indiana.

Making the mail less efficient will require that I request one as soon as they are available and mail it back sooner than I would prefer to.

A b****t request is not a b****t. Therefore it is a waste of money.

I’ve not really had many issues with letters except certified letters and packages. Right now I’m awaiting a certified letter that been en route since before the 10th. Plus the 10th it was scanned in Maryland. It should have even delivered by the 13th. I had a package from California take over 2 weeks. Normally I would have had it within a week.

A b****t request is needed to get a b****t. The USPS gets paid in any case, and apparently the sender is willing to pay send a few that will not be used in order to get every person to at least think about it. In our primary, a candidate choose to send a bunch out in order to draw attention to himself.

UHH folks, don’t forget legislation from 2001 to the present. Starting in 2001 all of Congress, both Dems and Reps passed legislation concerning the financing of the USPS retirement plan and future healthcare costs of retirees. A certain percentage of USPS profits must first go to cover the USPS retirement plan and retiree future healthcare costs before any other expenses are covered. This year I believe 5.6 billion dollars are allocated to this fund before any other USPS operating expenses are covered. Blame the Congress both Dems and Reps for this. The Presidents Bush and Obama both signed this legislation. This I believe was done before Trump was elected, so don’t blame Trump.

Don't you think governments at every level would learn something from private enterprise about funded retirement accounts? I don't know of any private companies that still have a privately funded retirement while almost all government entities still fund private retirement accounts. They have turned to 401K plans which I have learned is not any better for the retiree but way better for the companies. I have found a better way. There are a few plans where you put your money in life insurance companies which are way more stable than the market related funds. Some accounts when structured properly only ratchet up but never down as the market rises and falls. You can't lose your retirement fund when the market tanks which seems to be the norm every 5-7 years. I have a few friends who lost over half their retirement funds and are too old to make it back.

One of the biggest problem the post office faces, maybe the biggest, is that it operates under a business model that requires them to prepay retiree healthcare and medical benefits of approx $5 Billion a year. That money would certainly go a long way to improve service and efficiency. They’re required to do this by a law enacted in 2006, when the Legislative and Executive Branches were controlled by the same party trying to undermine confidence in and cripple the Postal Service today.

Politicians should stay out of the mail - in more ways than one.

This started by companies going out of business and leaving long-time employees without defined-benefit pensions, so the government stepped in and required that companies set enough aside every year to pay the pension benefits they had promised.
