Pioneer Square now has some interesting murals on the boarded up windows that might make for a good background. Haven't seen any evidence of the "city in disarray" even around CHOP.

Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. Beautiful gardens, duck pond, and a former transit station. 5400 N Pearl Street. A magical spot.

I live in the Seattle area - so I should know the answer to this - but I don't.
I have a friend who is a guitar player visiting from out of town and I want to do a portrait session (with guitar) with him.
I want to do something non-touristy (no Space Needle shots) - maybe even a little "gritty." I was thinking of old train stations, old hotels under renovation, cool alleyways, rough construction sites...... Can be indoors or outdoors.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

Try Shaffer Baille Mansion B&B on Capital Hill. It’s part of an area called Millionaire’s Row. I’ve stayed their several times. I’m sure you will also be able to get some ideas walking around the area.

Some good suggestions above. I'd add Gas Works Park--lots of opportunities there, if you don't think it's too touristy. You might include the gum wall at Pike Place Market. The boarded up restaurants display a lot of quirky art, which I find interesting. Belltown has numerous old buildings (e.g., Lenora and 2nd).

The Jimi Hendrix Memorial site should be interesting to him:

We have been to Seattle a number of time BUT not now........the city government is a completely out of their minds......so.......If you really want some good shots.......go down to where the riots are....where the Dumb Ass Mayor and city council won't let the police do their job and has let the rioters take over a police station and 4 blocks of the city.....
Don't for get your camera and your Sig Sauer!
Have fun

I am a Portrait Photographer located in Pa.

Here is a link to a post I made here on UHH a few years ago. It is about a "GUITAR PLAYER"!

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-372287-1.html

As a photographer of many years, and many clients, I have this shot on my wall a @ 16x20.

Through the years I have had many wonderful comments on this shot. I am very proud of it.

Hope this gives you some ideas!

Thanks,
Boone.
