Hi all! I learned of this group from a gentleman I met at Wheeler Dam in Rogersville, AL. I've live in Huntsville for 2+ years now having relocated from Folsom, CA. I enjoy nature and wildlife photography the most. I love trying to shoot the Milky Way and would love to find dark sky areas here in northern Alabama. I guess I was spoiled in NorCal. I'm attaching one I took outside of Auburn, AL a month or so ago. I look forward to being part of this group!
Welcome but if you're from California, you're no Yankee lol
Welcome to the forum. Nice shot. I too moved here to Al. from Torrance, Ca. I lived in Hoover but just moved to McCalla. Glad you joined us. Lots of fun here. You made a good choice in coming here.
Welcome to the forum!
This site,
https://www.go-astronomy.com/dark-sky-sites.php doesn’t show any dark sky locations in Alabama but there are a couple a few hours drive north in Tennessee. Check ‘em out. Beautiful countryside scenes and autumn colors up that way as well.

Welcome aboard, enjoy and have lots of fun.
Welcome, and great shot! I was stationed in Huntsville at Redstone Arsenal in 1974-75, when the had the Missile and Munitions school there. Many fond memories of the town. My son went to UAH for his undergraduate studies. Lots to do and see there, and I'm sure you've discovered the Space and Rocket Center, and Guntersville Lake. Just watch out for the horrific storms/tornadoes that seem to be prevalent in the area! The town and Monte Sano got clobbered in late 1974!
Best wishes and keep shooting!
