The hills of the Palouse region of Washington are covered in fields of alfalfa, wheat, lentils and other grains. The wheat fields were ripe and were golden. The alfalfa was deep green. Some of the other grains were in the process of turning, that added varying shades of green. Getting up high, like on top of Steptoe Butte, clearly showed the varying shades of the area. Driving the back roads got me up close to the crops. Have you ever heard a ripe wheat field "sing" in the breeze? It's awesome!
