Thanks Kathy, I will note this down. I would have loved to go, but with this stupid virus, we decided that it was not worth taking the risk (rightly or wrongly so) - I am glad for you that you made it!

One of the things to consider is the colours. The wheat was ripening so I got lots of yellows and golds. In the spring it would be shades of green. After harvest there would be swaths of disked ground, mostly brown and tan.

This is some really striking landscape. Really mesmerizing. They really are dunes formed of blown silt during the ice ages, as I have just discovered.

The hills of the Palouse region of Washington are covered in fields of alfalfa, wheat, lentils and other grains. The wheat fields were ripe and were golden. The alfalfa was deep green. Some of the other grains were in the process of turning, that added varying shades of green. Getting up high, like on top of Steptoe Butte, clearly showed the varying shades of the area. Driving the back roads got me up close to the crops. Have you ever heard a ripe wheat field "sing" in the breeze? It's awesome!

I'll enjoy reading your comments. I hope you enjoy seeing this lovely region.

It is mesmerizing - especially when you're looking out across it from a high perspective. I didn't know that about them. Thanks for the info. And thanks for looking in.

I hope you get to go. I had seen images for so long and I'm a farm gal, so naturally, I was drawn to it. One of the fun things about going there is that you're forced to get off the freeways! I drove two-lane roads 95% of the trip. That was such fun! I don't know that my pictures measure up to those I had seen before going, but I'm satisfied with them.
