Senator Gohmert, an anti-masker, now has Covert-19. His defense? He's been wearing a mask lately, and that's probably why he got the virus. The mask was keeping it in. And this person is a United States senator.

It is about the only positive thing to come out of this mask scam. I am a retired Clinical Microbiologist and never in my 30 year career have I heard so many half truths and outright lies as I have with this COVID-19 crap.

Thank You

I'm pretty sure he does. However we have been told half truths from both sides of the political spectrum, so I say its up to each individual to protect themselves to their satisfaction. Wear the mask and distance yourself from those who you are afraid might infect you or don't wear the mask and distance yourselves from the rabid mask wearers.

No, it isn’t just an individual decision, it affects those that you might unknowingly infect.

As someone posted on a recent NextDoor forum, “Insisting on your rights without acknowledging your responsibilities is not freedom, it is adolescence.”

If I stay away from others who choose to wear a mask and stay away from me, how am I going to infect anyone? Nobody talks anymore about washing hands which might be more important.
They just discovered West Nile Virus in Lake Havasu the other day, which is pretty bad, but are we going nuts and shutting down the entire economy over it?
Your Rights also cannot infringe on my freedom, so think about that. Be responsible and keep away from people and wash your hands and it will be OK, or not.

And just what are your credentials to impugn mine? Can you top a PhD? I got mine from UNC School of Medicine in 1984. Where do you get your information, CNN? I have forgotten more virology than 95% of the general population will ever know. This whole "calamity" has been a political sh*tshow. But you just go ahead believing the lies the media and politicians tell you, how do you breathe with your head buried so deep in the sand?

In that case, it's good you live in a state (FL) that doesn't have many Covid-19 cases.

And if you actually believe the number of reported cases and mortality numbers you are a fool of biblical proportions. These numbers are inflated at least two fold. Wake up and smell the anti-Trump agenda here.

Thank You again.
They only want to believe what fits their confirmation bias.

Most experts believe the numbers badly understate infection. In my ruby red state, they ran truly random testing, and found that 40% of infected people are unaware that they are infected.

I believe what Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx say in live interviews as I listen to them.

If I stay away from others who choose to wear a ma... (show quote)

Dr. Redman listen five practices that would make any future shutdown totally unneeded.
1. mask wearing
2. distancing
3. hand washing
4. avoiding crowds
5. avoiding bars

At one time most experts/scientists believed the Sun rotated around the earth.
True science needs to be repeatable with the same results by different people.
So far the science has not come to a 100% agreement on whether masks work or not.
We dont live in a bubble, but keeping our distance and washing hands might be the most effective measure we have right now. I also doubt seriously the vaccines will work 100% of the time.
