I am going to say that not many photographers need an f0.7 lens and also that not many photographers have $23,000 to spend on one of those.

Just get the 1.4, move away from the background, and bump up the ISO a stop and a half...

The O.P. quoted a price of 23 MILLION plus. You could buy several 3rd world countries for that.

If you do not like it, can you return it and get your money back?

Add three zeros, it was 23 MILLION.

The factory that built it is included in the price. A handy accessory if you ever need repair parts.

Doesn't Canon make a slightly cheaper one? Harry

Looking about on line, I found a Carl Zeiss 50mm planar F/0.7 for $23,100,000.
Only ten made. Stanley Kubrick owns three, NATO six, and Mr. Z kept one.
Now if it fits Canon.... If they have PayPal.

I have just ordered one from eBay it will be delivered soonest my wife’s check clears. I hope she doesn’t check her bank account before it arrives.

To me there is a direct relationship between the quality of a lens and the quality of my eyesight. I hold the same belief to audio systems. With $10 ears anything more doesn't mean much to me.

You are so right! Unfortunately most people will never admit it. They would listen to an $189 stereo system and tell you how fantastic it sounds if you told him it cost $7000.
People who “only” like 20 year old single malt scotch similarly usually can’t tell the difference between that and your run of the mill booze.

It was originally made for NASA for shooting on the dark side of the MOON "where the sun don't shine". Well, now you know where your tax dollars go.

Maybe someday it will show up at a government surplus auction.

You forgot to include the ARRIflex camera that takes the BNC-R mount of the lens so you can actually use it. Just $8,500 used.

And to think, Nasa could have just bought brand-x f/0.95, or f/1.1, ~75mm lens and a cheap speed booster.
