Looking about on line, I found a Carl Zeiss 50mm planar F/0.7 for $23,100,000.
Only ten made. Stanley Kubrick owns three, NATO six, and Mr. Z kept one.
Now if it fits Canon.... If they have PayPal.

Stanley Kubrick has been on his way to Jupiter for some time now. Look for a garage sale.

Kubrick ordered them for the candlelight scenes in "Barry Lyndon".

You can build your own for about $2,000. No tools or skill needed and it will be no worse than the original ... a rather low bar to leap anywho. Best of all it will even fit on your camera.

Basic ingredients are a brand-x f/0.95, or f/1.1, ~75mm lens and a cheap “speed booster”. You’ll even have an operational iris, which IIRC the Zeiss lens lacks.

You may not get the Barry Lyndon effect when you first point it at your cat. Check out the lighting in the ballroom scene to see how it’s really done.

I can pretty much guess what my wife will say if I wanted to buy this gem of a lens. Sadly, what she would say to me can never be printed because it would involve a great deal of pain and embarrassment.

Happy Shooting!

I'd pass on it. At that price it is probably grey market!

To me there is a direct relationship between the quality of a lens and the quality of my eyesight. I hold the same belief to audio systems. With $10 ears anything more doesn't mean much to me.
