Recently, I had a watch sent to me from Garmin via DHL and handed off to the local post office. My mailbox is about a half mile from my place and by the time I got to the mailbox someone had beaten me to it. Post office or Garmin didn't even notify me that the package had been delivered.

Services from USPS, UPS, and Fed-Ex have really gone down hill. I understand they all handle a huge amount of packages, and some items will get lost or damaged. But, they have become less and less reliable.
A year and a half ago FedEx lost a very expensive camera, luckily Canon replaced it with a new on. They also delivered a 6’ custom window shade that was bent like a boomerang! One would think if it was damaged before
being loaded someone would have reported it. On the other hand, if it was damaged while on the truck, the driver not have left it causing me a big headache trying to get a replacement, which thankfully after 6 weeks I got the replacement.
UPS, has also lost and damaged a few packages too.
USPS, from my experience is the worse. They have lost and mis-delivered more packages than the other two combined. Training to contact any of them is impossible.
My newest dilemma is with USPS, and UPS Innovations. 3 weeks ago I purchased 2 expensive item, the seller who 95 miles away, shipped them the next day. The item took 4 days to get to a location 65 miles south of me.
And there they sat. Tracking says it left there 2 weeks ago, and that’s it.
I was actually lucky to contact the USPS where the packages were last at. The representative told me it’s out of their hands, and in the possession of UPS Innovations, and to contact them. I could reach them, and their website doesn’t recognize my USPS tracking number, but yet the PO does. The seller will either replace the items, or give me a refund.
It’s been a very frustrating experience, and if the top three delivery services make contacting impossible, then who else can you rely on.
Thanks for letting me rant, and take care of yourselves.

I ordered $9 dollars worth of small antenna parts and got an e-mail saying they had been delivered. Several days later I went to the USPS office and they said they show it was delivered on my block (somewhere). I checked the mailbox next door (no one lives there) and found it, along with three other envelopes! Bank statement, credit card statement, stuff the neighbors don't need to see. I don't know if it was legal to take my mail out of the box next door but.....maybe someone can enlighten me.
I've had lots of problems with couriers lately.

I feel your pain! I have had similar experiences. Notice "left at front door" when in reality my package was delivered to a neighbor's bushes.

Some sellers don’t have a store, and don’t want people going to them. Free shipping beats driving 190 miles.
I live in a rural community, and never had anything stolen from my front door. Driving through NY, the Bronx, and the 95 corridor is not a day trip.

Well, it can turn a one hour trip into a day trip🤪

Let me just add my latest experience, more just plain comically stupid instead of frustrating. Yesterday I discovered a package delivered by DHL at my front door. Huge orange stickers on the package read: “ Hand to Recipient, Do NOT leave at front door”. Perhaps literacy is not a requirement for employment at DHL?

It isn't just couriers that make contacting difficult. I am having difficulty getting another Dell 32" monitor (damaged by a stray cat). It took 2 weeks to get the insurance company to accept that it was actually faulty. The guy they sent round said why am I here after he saw it. I said because they cannot accept the photo I sent (they thought it might be repairable). Then the replacement does not go to Dell but the insurance companies favourite dealer who then go to Dell. Since my wife answered the phone somewhere in here she has ended up being the contact person which caused problems (sorted that now). So as far as I know everything was ordered (with a 6 week delivery time) 2 weeks ago. Then I get another call from the dealer that looked as if nothing had happened yet (I suspect they are using an Indian call center). Still to sort this since we got involved in the contact person debacle. Hopefully tomorrow to sort this. During all this time had no contact except by phone - no email confirmations. 4 weeks into it and still not sure anything is proceeding.
Bring back paper and common sense !! Said cat is still waiting to make friends with my boot.

Contacting a vendor/seller is one of the major problems. Rarely can a customer actual talk with a real person. The virtual agent that is used is a total waste of time. I’m starting to think some companies make it as difficult, as impossible to discourage customers from filing a claim, or complain.

We see complaints about shipping here regarding all three major carriers, USPS, UPS and Fed Ex but how often do any of us send a letter saying one of the three did a great job.

Millions of packages and letters, etc are shipped daily now. Most get to where they are addressed to without an issue.

Keep in mind too, that there is a an effort to make the USPS fail (one key example is the ruling that forced them to expense all future pension costs, making them on paper, very unprofitable) so that it can be privatized in the future. This should not be allowed to happen

I agree completely. Although there are occasional snafus, the overwhelming majority of mail and packages are delivered by the USPS in a timely and correct manner, and in general they are substantially less expensive for a given size/weight than UPS or FedX. It is also true that they look less profitable than they actually are because of the future pension funding requirement, something that to my knowledge, no other Federal agency is required to do. It will be a sad day for this country if our national post system is forced under by politicians with personal agendas.

Waiting 2 months now to receive a bicycle frame. It was being shipped from less than a 100 miles away. I exaggerate, but it is 71/2 weeks for sure. I have been waiting for a French chainring being shippedfrom England for about the same time. Heard earlier this week that the chainring (bicycle) had been shipped from New York and was now in Chicago. Sounds like progress until you realize I am on the East Coast, south of the Mason-Dixon...

Dealing with the USPS is difficult but I found a way. File a Claim online.
I have done this twice and each time I received a call within 24 hours.
Once filed they investigate the issue and resolve very quickly, at least in my cases.

Even worse are the call-centers located in India.
When we lived in Kansas I had to explain to them that we were facing 50+mph winds - perhaps they should check if our line was down {it was}.

I remember such a call-center employee suggesting that a major city to which I needed to go was practically next door. Actually, it was well more than 100 miles away. Looking at maps can be misleading when the actual scale of the map is unknown. I guess the training they receive does not include map- reading.

Be careful buying stuff from Banggood. If there is something wrong the first thing they do is ask for pictures of the shipping package obviously checking for damage. However if the package was okay and the fault is not related to shipping damage they still insist you send the photos. Of course you biffed the packaging when you unpacked it and it may be a few weeks before you even test the item. So they can wipe their hands on any warranty claims.
This is almost now the norm for any service claims from a large group of suppliers/manufacturers. Made easier for them by making it almost impossible to contact them for anything other than a sale.
Many of the overseas suppliers often on-sell products that have been rejected by the manufacturer so the chances of failed goods is quite great. I have almost stopped using them as sources because of this. You have heard of 'Tofu' construction ? Believe me there are 'tofu' goods as well.
The shipping of items and delivery to wrong address's is unbelievable. It amounts to stupidity on the part of the courier. Few people have commented that their package was incorrectly or badly addressed so the only possibility left is basically laziness on the part of some couriers. Items shipped as 'sign for' have been suspended during covid so the item is fair game being left in a letterbox. I bet this won't be suspended once the pandemic is over. Shipping or even free shipping means the couriers have to operate a lean ship. One way to do this is to employ and pay less idiots. So in our endeavour to reduce costs by going with somebody who offers free shipping then you yourselves are setting yourself up for long term shipping problems. There are no free lunches - somebody has to pay.
