Thanks for the explanation, I thought he might have meant something else and had mistyped or truncated the word.

Not that she is giving me grief, she never does ... and has tolerated far stupider ... but now I have one that is a bone but still works and a very nice one.

That's why she's shaking her head, but it's for the same reason I have a bone NIKON F that won't make me cry if I hurt it and a shiny nickel new one.

I'll try to remember to post pics once it arrives.

Sounds like fun, but remember that everyone’s wife feels That their husbands have lost their minds. Don’t sweat it and enjoy! Look forward to some pictures. I remember my first Brownie “Hawkeye”.

That's the reason I never tell my wife what I paid when I buy a new field trial dog. (And yes, we have separate accounts.) Harry

Perhaps it's a regional phrase, but ... ugly, beat up junk that somehow still works properly.

Imagine a 50 year old CADILLAC without a straight piece of sheet metal, 4 different tires, a cracked windshield, rips in the interior yet somehow starts, stops, runs well, the air blows cold and the radio and clock still work along with all the power doodads.

That's a bone.

Make it 60 years old and I'd buy it (and my wife would probably put me in the garage with it).

My wife has indulged me many years ago and I had purchased a Canon 5D MarkII. It is a beautiful camera and I was in love at first sight. We were in an camera store and I had seen a Hasselblad H4D. While I marveled at this beauty, my wife asked the clerk the price tag. Upon her surprise she remarked to both the clerk and myself, “put the camera down, step away from the counter and no one gets hurt!”

It was nice to fondle the Hassie but I didn’t want my wife to create a scene.

Happy Shooting!

A dog! At least with an old horn, if it doesn't work out, I can shove it in the back of the closet or stuff it in a corner in the garage. A dog is going to be work for the next 12-15 years. A lot of fun for you if you're into the training and field work. With a dog, I'm sure she can't stay mad too long. Impossible. We don't have separate accounts, by the way. She knows where every penny goes which is good. If I had managed our money we'd have been broke years ago.

You have a Nikon F, also? I got mine in '64 while in the USAF stationed in Okinawa and on vacation in Tokyo. Bought the basic camera with several lenses and other accessories. Still have it and the lenses. Only thing wrong with it are the leaf springs for the shutter. Weak with time.
