I have an Epson v600 scanner that’s I have used to scan hundreds of slides. It does a great job and you will have a digital copy of all your family memories you can enjoy and share. When you make the preview scan up the slides you can choose which slide to scan and which to ignore. Personally I scanned ALL the slides that were not blurred. If they were in the slide tray they were already culled For presentation.

Another option, not yet mentioned, is to buy an inexpensive light box. Mine is only about12 inches wide by 8 inches high. You array your slides on it, and use a loupe (not too expensive either). It’s a quick way to look at a lot of slides. I do that before I scan to choose which ones are worth the effort of scanning. JimR

Thanks to everybody that responded. I've had some good suggestions. If I ever am able to implement the perfect solution I'll be sure to let everyone know.
I totally agree with that comment from medphotog about the Airequipt projector. My dad used the box shaped magazines and he was constantly fighting with that darned projector, which I still have. Seems like my aunt fought with her circular one less, but why they both chose that brand, I'll never know!

If anyone has suggestions on how to view 500+ slides that are in circular Airequipt magazines, for which I have no projector, I would love to have them. I have many old family photos stored this way and would really like to sort through them in the most expedient way I can. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks so much.

I am a retired carpenter.
I would try a homemade light box.
Purchase a piece of .25 inch frosted glass 16x20, or your preference.
A couple strip LEDs and a box, could be cardboard.
Assemble and view.

View slides with a glass.

Hi:

I have a Kodak slide projector which I would sell for $50 plus shipping. However I am in San Jose, California and shipping may cost $50 or more. So I would check if you cna get one locally to avoid shipping and if you cannot find one, send me a PM.

I got an old GAF Pana-Vue on E-Bay. It holds about 40 slides at a time and you manually advance them. The bulb stopped working so I just put a small Harbor Freight worklite inside and it works fine.

However, looking at 80 at a time seems a much more attractive prospect. Thanks so much.

I made a light table (about 2'x3') which I use. Depending on how critically you need to view, you might just buy a piece of "smoked?" glass, suspend it on books, put a light under it and go for it. Should work for sorting at least. Also, a loupe of some kind would be helpful.

Why not try to scan/digitize them? I have done hundreds of Kodachrome/Ektachrome slides and although some were a little reticulated (due to aging) the results were quite satisfactory....many were from the 60s/70s! Recycled the slides and all I have now is a ton of .jpg files which can be worked with your favorite editor.
You can research on line but I used a dbTech DB-FS150 Scanner which was reasonable in price and works well.
Hope this helps.

On my last I forgot to mention to "dincyb" that it's unlikely I'll be using my scanner again.
It's like new and if he's interested I'd be willing to sell it and would pay for shipping within the US. We can get in touch off the web and make arrangements.

Buy a Wolverine Slide/Film Copier. Digitize all, very easy.

Get on the mailing list for a slide to digital copy service. Send them when you receive a "sale" offer. They will return a CD or USB drive and you can view on your computer.

That was on my radar for later. I've had videos done at sale prices and been very happy with the results. Now, it's just a matter of deciding which of the thousands of slides are worth keeping. Thanks.
