Not really, but worth noting. As most of us know, a few weeks ago, across the the nation, there were protests that some of which turned into rioting and looting. Who would have thought that in our little Podunk town of Kansas City this sort of thing would have happened here? Unfortunately it did. Much of in an area known as the Country Club Plaza, a ritzy place developed for the well to do which included fancy housing and upscale apartments and stores.

This area was the idea from a man named J.C. Nichols, a real estate developer from the early part of the 20th century. So, in his honor, a grand fountain and a street were named after him. Now, they (who ever they is) want to change the name of the fountain and parkway because these revisionist historians are trying to tie Mr. Nichols to racism because hie contracts expressly forbid allowing people of color from living in this exclusive area.

As absurd as it is to us today, it was simply part of the culture of the day. J.C. Nichols was not a racist, he was just a product of those times. Fortunately due to changes in law, this sort of thing has been put to rest legally. However, the thought remains in many people's minds and they think that a name change is necessary. Really? This part of town is flourishing to this day because of this man's foresight. Bur. alas...

The reason I bring this up now is that just last night, there was another protest, this time in front of the main police station where a statue commemorating fallen police officers was vandalized and a policeman was hurt by a protestor. I saw this happening on the television news and there were protestors with signs calling to ban the police and to fire the policed chief. How stupid ids that. This idiocy was shared by both black & white protestors.

I just happened to catch some of the aftermath a few weeks ago because my dentist just so happens to have an office right smack dab in the middle of the Plaza.

I guess it's just a "coincidence" that the protesting started within only hours after George Floyd was killed. We can thank one police officer for the multitude of protests, riots, injuries, deaths, etc. that followed. He helped paint police with his brush, much the same way some use the same brush to paint people of color. Floyd may not have been right, but neither was killing him. Two wrongs never equaled a right.
Yes, you are right. But what I don't understand is when that incident happened in Ferguson Missouri, the news kept showing the guy hitting the shop owner over the head with the box of cigars and yet Al Sharpton called him the "Gentle Giant". So, the media rolled with that. I got to thinking, all of these product manufacturers are just now getting in on the black lives matter theme? Wait a minute, nothing was said about Aunt Jemima syrup when Obama took office. He never said anything about it. And things are still snowballing. Eskimo Pies? Please...

Thanks! They could have been much better, but I did mention the word "Dentist". Yeah, I had a teeth ache (not tooth ache). A few days later, 11 of them came out. I am still sore.

I never said Floyd was a saint, but I did see the video or the end parts of it and there was no struggle to be seen. In fact, Chauvin was so relaxed that he could actually put one hand in his pocket. Remember, this was caught on video and seen by millions. Chauvin had to have known he was being videoed, and there is no way he could not have anticipated what would follow. In that sense, he was/is directly responsible for a lot of destruction. But I agree that we get a bit carried away when it comes to names on products that have been around for ages. By the way,a lot can go through your mind in 8 minutes. Chauvin had a lot of time to re think his actions.

Parts of it? Don't to care address reality, my previous comment? Who are you and your ilk gonna call when some lowlife kicks in your door in the no police Utopia y'all are advocating? Back in the "60's it was "You hate Cops? When in trouble call a Hippy". Where I live, for me and my neighbors no issue. Best of luck where you live and with your "Mind"? set.

First of all, I don't "hate cops". Never said I did. But one cop painted the others with a bad brush. I realize that the majority of cops are decent people just trying to do their jobs. I doubt if the "good cops" out there appreciated what Chauvin did because it makes things harder for them. I never got a chance to be a "hippy" even if I had wanted to be. My "mind set" is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Oh, by the way, if some "low life" kicks in my door, the way it was done to the female EMT that was shot and killed late at night, that "low life" will be going out on a stretcher.

No, and to the best of my knowledge that statement is all correct.

I see this is now in the Attic, time to go do something more useful and intellectual than read what many of the permanent residents of the Attic post. Maybe arrange the sock drawer in alphabetical order by color.

Your expert judgment and you have worn a badge? The killing was tragic, and based on training doctrine that hasn't been current in a very long time, certainly before that officer's tenure. There are always risks in resisting arrest, both to the subject and the officers. If you have not been in that position, or fighting in and against a mob there is no way to make you understand. Apparently you also don't see a difference between protest and riot. If there is any "action" near you, take a field trip at dusk or after dark and report back.

You are telling us then that it seems appropriate that rioting across America is appropriate because of the actions of ONE police officer who so far has proven to have a record of brutality toward suspects but not necessarily a racist attitude unless I missed something. The fact that the officer was white and George Floyd was black does not prove any racial overtones.

In America police officers are killed by black males than the police kill black males. Should we all then start going berserk and riot, loot and burn cities to the ground? Last I heard there are courts in America that take care of officers such as the one who killed George Floyd.

No other race in America is free to riot, loot and commit arson except for the black race which does it often. Why is that? Why does the Left allow blacks to commit these violent crimes with no punishment?
