Getting just a little political here...
Not really, but worth noting. As most of us know, a few weeks ago, across the the nation, there were protests that some of which turned into r**ting and l**ting. Who would have thought that in our little Podunk town of Kansas City this sort of thing would have happened here? Unfortunately it did. Much of in an area known as the Country Club Plaza, a ritzy place developed for the well to do which included fancy housing and upscale apartments and stores.
This area was the idea from a man named J.C. Nichols, a real estate developer from the early part of the 20th century. So, in his honor, a grand fountain and a street were named after him. Now, they (who ever they is) want to change the name of the fountain and parkway because these revisionist historians are trying to tie Mr. Nichols to r****m because hie contracts expressly forbid allowing people of color from living in this exclusive area.
As absurd as it is to us today, it was simply part of the culture of the day. J.C. Nichols was not a r****t, he was just a product of those times. Fortunately due to changes in law, this sort of thing has been put to rest legally. However, the thought remains in many people's minds and they think that a name change is necessary. Really? This part of town is flourishing to this day because of this man's foresight. Bur. alas...
The reason I bring this up now is that just last night, there was another protest, this time in front of the main police station where a statue commemorating fallen police officers was vandalized and a policeman was hurt by a protestor. I saw this happening on the television news and there were protestors with signs calling to ban the police and to fire the policed chief. How stupid ids that. This idiocy was shared by both black & white protestors.
I just happened to catch some of the aftermath a few weeks ago because my dentist just so happens to have an office right smack dab in the middle of the Plaza.

Not sure what this flag represents. Maybe I should read up on it, huh?

Unless I miss my guess, that is the Spanish f**g.
I'm sorry for your fountain. But the worst thing you can be called in America is r****t.
If Mr. Nichols forbade people of color to live in his “area”, he was a r****t by definition. Check “r****t” in the dictionary.
Portland, Oregon has been having it every night for over 6 weeks, DHS sent in federal officers because they were targeting Federal Buildings and offices and the i***t major is complaining, blaming them for the violence and I think it said had filed a lawsuit about it.

'It is unfair to judge a 19th Century man by 21st Century principles'.
Many Africans themselves kept s***es long before Europeans visited their countries.
Good to update plaques on many statues to recognise their involvement with the s***e trade but not acceptable to try to erase history.
Only by being reminded of the horrors of the past do we ensure that the world doesn't go down that same route again.
The classic errors in anthropology and sociology respectively are to make cross cultural or cross generational comparisons. They are invariably invalid.
I guess it's just a "coincidence" that the protesting started within only hours after G****e F***d was k**led. We can thank one police officer for the multitude of protests, r**ts, injuries, deaths, etc. that followed. He helped paint police with his brush, much the same way some use the same brush to paint people of color. Floyd may not have been right, but neither was k*****g him. Two wrongs never equaled a right.

Your expert judgment and you have worn a badge? The k*****g was tragic, and based on training doctrine that hasn't been current in a very long time, certainly before that officer's tenure. There are always risks in resisting arrest, both to the subject and the officers. If you have not been in that position, or fighting in and against a mob there is no way to make you understand. Apparently you also don't see a difference between protest and r**t. If there is any "action" near you, take a field trip at dusk or after dark and report back.

This makes a lot of sense because the architectural theme of the Plaza is Spanish.

He was not the one whom instituted it. Like I said, he was just a part of the white culture of the times. The same deal was going on at that time with Jews and Italians. From what I have read, he did not think of himself superior as far as r****m was concerned. Rumor (but of course) is that he had a black concubine stashed somewhere south of the Plaza near 179th and Antioch roads. I am not too much into rumors, but who knows?

Yeah, it is getting pretty stupid over here for almost the same thing. The protestors are also against the feds coming here last week.
