This may be a dumb question to all of you that do this type photography... are the subjects dead? I don't like spiders but the jumpers are the only ones that I can stomach. Nice photo.

I, myself, and I doubt others choose to shoot dead subjects. I shot a black widow playing dead.

If I am going to photograph them in the studio I euthanize them with ethyl acetate. It is quick, humane and their legs do not curl up like they do with freezing.

If their legs should curl up, soak them for several hours in regular old white vinegar. This works equally well for all insects as well. It breaks the rigor and makes their joints flexible again for several hours so you can photograph them.

You and I think alike in that respect. They are curious and I've taken pictures of them while they're checking me out.

Nasty looking critter, Scott, great capture.

I enjoy photographing these cute buggers. TINY is what they are. Size of a grain of rice. My grandson was exploring youtube videos, showed me one in which a poster described these tiny harmless critters as something that would/could attack and bite you! FAKE NEWS!! If you were reborn as an aphid, welll maybe but they are friendly to humans.

They are amazing, fast as lightning, pinpoint hunters though, fascinating to watch. Fast forward to around 0:30.

Scott, do you mind if I post your pic on my Facebook page? I'll give you (and UHH) full credit, of course. I'll also post the video you shared.

I don't think I would call Jumping Spiders nasty, in fact I think they are adorable with those huge eyes!

Sorry, Scott, I hate spiders.

Kind of an ugly animal, but a fine photograph.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I'll bet the female jumpers are all over this dude.
