That the words homeless and Vet have to be used together is a national disgrace, and everybody, regardless of politics or any other factor is responsible. There are thousands of Daves, and far too few that care.

It's likely we will never know what that war was really all about. But God bless those who did serve. Whether or not their sacrifices were indeed in vain we will also never know. Intrinsically the strength of any nation comes from the brave men and women willing to defend it.
We have to find out if not we will have a second vietnam , than a third one. Hell we are in a second one, We are in the big sand box now with no end in sight and what is that all about.

Thanks to all. The Thank You’s I hear now seem to be just by rote, not sincere. But better than most of what I got back then! USAF 66-67 4 month TDY Hon Tre, 68-69 PCS Cam Rahn. 21 years and retired.

What was that war all about? It has been almost 50 years and I still asking that question.
Look up Southeast Asia Treaty Organization. You will find that it refers to any country in South East Asia that asked for help against Communist aggession would be assisted by America and its allies. Of course that is an over simplification but true. You do recall the Domino effect of Communism don't you? You do recall that Communist North Vietnam tried to take South Vietnam by force don't you? Do some reading.

I hate it when people say thank you for your service. It sounds so empty to me. We need to take care of our soldiers and our veterans. Lip service is so easy.
You might remember that at one time America's military was highly regarded in America. But in the Vietnam war that was all forgotten. Due to the Liberals supporting the anti war hippies and other assorted AH's our service members were looked upon openly as baby killers, not fit to be citizens, were spit upon when they were in public wearing a uniform and so on. All of the above was due to the Democratic Party and its continued support of anti American causes and groups.
You might recall that HBO had a special, Thank You and Welcome Home for our Vietnam veterans TEN years after the Vietnam War was over. TEN YEARS!!! I never felt so disgusted in my life that something I did, that many thousands of others did, worthy of any high recognition over ten years earlier should FINALLY be brought to light. In reality it was nothing more than a forced, Thank You. My opinion then as now was, Fk you all.
THAT is why today is is a nice thing when people tell our military members, Thank you for your service.
THAT is why when I see other Vietnam veterans here on UHH that I say, Welcome Home.
Americans if not the entire planet owe our veterans everything in my opinion. We cannot do enough for those that stand on that wall and protect us from harm.

You might recall it is President Trump who is trying to pull our troops out of the Middle East. Last I heard he wanted to do that and the Left jumped all over him. Tough crowd to please, huh?

Oh yes, The Domino Effect that was prove wrong. Southeast Asia Treaty Organization that was only on paper and was a joke. North Vietnam and South Vietnam were lock in a civil war. Had the United States stop France from going back in Inter-China in 1945, we would have not had a Vietnam War. Just think many America life would had been save. If you remember North Vietnam won that war and to day Vietnam is America third larger trading partner. So for a second time I ask the question what was it all about?

He could have pull out if he wanted to, but it was oil and money from it that keeping America still in the big sand box.
My condolences, friend. Several buddies left before I did, to be laid to rest back home. Those are not easy days to remember.

No Billy Bob that is not the reason. Those of you on the Left whined and cried that he was hurting some of our allies by pulling out.
My choice would be to pack up everything we own in the Middle East today and be gone tomorrow. We have done everything we can do over there and should let these tribes from 800 years back settle their own differences. Not one more American life should be lost for that region.

It was to protect us from that communist Ho Chi Min. It worked didn't it. He never came over here.
I served in Nam and lost a good friend there also.
Would you please enable the download on the remembrance plaque? I work in a company that pays special respect to Veterans. I would like to present it to our management. They would greatly appreciate it. We have special appreciation for Memorial Day, Independence Day, Marine Corp Birthday and Veteran's Day.
