We have a colony (infestation is a better word) in the wetlands near us. They are aggressive, ugly, mean, and make a terrifying shrieking sound at night. If I had a shotgun I’d blow every one of those little shits to smitherines.

Careful! Some of our buddies do not like guns at all, especially if used to do any smithereening.

No, it is the second largest in the Weisel family

That is a Jewish family? Or did you mean weasel?

Fishers were once imported into Oregon forests to control
the tree-killing porcupine population. Also, newtoyou: Don't forget to
include the marten on your list.

I don't think a fisher is a cat, ferret or weasel family I think.

They belong to the weasel family.

Well, a lot of us are really glad that you don't own a shotgun! There is no excuse for shooting wild animals just because you think you have a right to own a gun. They are just as entitled to life as you are.

1. I don’t own a gun. I have never owned a gun. I am not a gun rights fan. So I am in no position to shoot a fisher cat (even though they are evil little shits) or any other wildlife, for that matter. Nor would I.

BUT…

2. I HAVE been exposed to Fisher Cats. They are aggressive towards people and domestic animals. This local pack terrorizes local pets.

3. We also have a local den of foxes. I like the foxes. I save the videos my surveillance camera captures of them parading down my front walk. I have no ill will toward them AT ALL.

4. I don’t know who wins in a fox vs. fisher cat showdown but I am 100% rooting for the fox clan.

I just learned something new. I didn't know they climbed trees.
Excellent series.

I was going down a list of largest to smaller. The Martin is much smaller than a Fisher.
About mink size, 4 to 5 pounds would be a large male.
Down to the Lesast Weasel. Only about three ounces. There are many more weasels and skunks, all a few pounds or so.
