Goes to show how wrong you are, more than 80% of adult leaders in the Boy Scouts are female and are single parents. The BSA is a good program unfortunately like every thing else there are a few rotten apples in every bunch.

Girls never wanted to join the Boy Scouts, That was a move by BSA to prop up their failing membership rolls. Girl Scouts of American are fine and do not want to join with BSA. The programs offered to all scouts are competing now with sports at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. There is no time for scouting like there was when I was a girl.

You should be proud the BSA is a good program and it builds leadership and character. If the right leaders are in place at the troop level. My boys were fortunate to have a great Scoutmaster. That was a great roll model.

What those lawsuits were made up by BSA? I could have sworn some were filed by feminist groups, they even used their own group name on the lawsuits. We had multiple ones here in California.

Our daughter joined GSA in 2nd grade with her 3 best friends. My wife became assistant troop leader, then leader and drafted me as assistant troop leader and cookie dad*. I still have the badges and pins somewhere and a copy of the award the troop got for highest average cookie sales per member of any troop in the district. (between 11th & 12th grade - down to only 4 girls left and they averaged almost 2000 boxes each, our daughter Jasmine went to almost 3000 and won a laptop computer) One friend's brother was BSA and father was a long time troop leader. In high school she toyed with the idea of joining a troop the friend's father was associated with - all the members were aimed at making Eagle-and they all made it (she made Gold in GSA and thought being able to add Eagle Scout would be neat) and establishing a Medical Explorers group for those who were aiming at medical professions. But then she got accepted to UCLA in Pre-Med and got too busy. She also worked as a summer intern at the regional GSA headquarters here in the Inland Empire region of So CA one year between 11th and 12th grade and then a month one summer while in UCLA - they kept inviting her to conferences to do a "show and tell" - look what this Girl Scout did! Don't you want to try for the same?

*Some of the cookie flavors are great but if I never see another one it won't bother me. I way over did my quota of cases of cookies.

After all the arguments the bottom line is that the Boy Scout organization has been destroyed. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was, for many years, a partner with the Boy Scouts but has now severed all ties with the organization. If I am not mistaken the Catholic Church has done likewise. The Boy Scouts will soon be history. When they began allowing homosexuals and other perverts to become leaders they sounded the death knell. The scout law means absolutely nothing anymore.

The Boy Scouts are on their way out. They have lost their identity and have not been able to keep up with the the needs of today. Girl Scouts have better program. Just stick with girls.
