this morning i was presented with an elusive animal the fisher cat to photograph. i was totally surprise by it presence as i was not expecting to see one as they are very reclusive
Excellent. I have never even heard of a fisher cat. Is it related to raccoons?
No, it is the second largest in the Weisel family
We have had a fisher cat in the area but they are very difficult to see let alone photograph. I saw one once and a friend that lives locally saw one in the Jersey Pinelands

We just call them fishers and martins.
Wonderful capture, Robert, thanks for sharing!
I've been hoping for photos of one for years. They are almost NEVER seen in the wild. Even more rarely seen than wolverines although they live much closer to people and civilization. I hope you bought a Lotto ticket, this has been your lucky day! Congratulations on these excellent photographs!
Amazing! I don't recall ever seeing these pictured. Right place and right time.
Sharp photos too.

May I ask where these shots were taken.
Fishers, Martes pennanti, is a northern species. Is it in FLA?
Mostly in Canada, but in about a dozen northern US states.
These are nice shots of an elusive animal.

Sea Otter largest. 30-80+ pounds.
Wolverine next at 35-60 pounds.
River Otter at up to 25 pounds.
The Badger, to 25 pounds.
Striped Skunk, 14 pounds.
And the Fisher at 12 pounds.
All these are Mustellidae. The Weasel family.
Known for potent scent glands.
Weasels, skunks, etc. They all reek when alarmed.
Bill
They are also quite fond of squirrels.
And don't mind a little kitty on occasion.
Nice shots. I had no idea they could be found that far South.
Wow, I'd never even heard of one, much less seen one!
