The image of the flower is a nice one and I wonder why you decided to go wide open if I see no selective focus here. Looks to me a small aperture would have been much better for this image but that is me.
I wasn't trying to get the best possible image I wanted to show the detail at f1.8. Perhaps my intentions were not clear. I will be using this as my low light bird lens although not exclusively.
While I agree that today's lenses are much better than those of the past there are a few exceptional lenses which are equally hard to find because of all hype which most people accept at face value.
There is a difference between an Otis and a Sigma even if most people will never appreciate it.
