I am also 75-years old and have been using mine for four years with my Nikon full frame bodies and heavy lenses. Because of physical imitations, I cannot cary the weight of my cameras with neck or shoulder straps and the Cotton Carrier has been the perfect solution.

I purchased one some years back and use it some. I do like it and I like that my hands are free. It does add about 2-3 hours of hiking to my capability. Some of the down-sides mentioned are true. I do have difficulty with my longer lens. I have a small frame, and have never quite gotten it adjusted to my size. So it's a bit loose and maybe not positioned correctly. And I do wish there were a way to attach a water bottle and maybe a small pocket for other things. I think in newer versions those are available.

A couple of further points.

1. I carry the Tamron 150-600 on the chest BUT I connect to the lens mount and not the camera body so I don't have the weight of the lens reefing on the camera mount. This also moves the lens front up higher so the leg doesn't hit it as much and I also flip the hood to cover the lens and not as a hood while hiking.

2. I also use the universal quick mount plate by CC so no fiddling when I want to use it on a tripod. (remember to disconnect the safety before swinging the rig to the tripod, yep, trial and error )

3. Using the CC wrist strap is also advisable for extra security.

4. Adjusting the chest mount is not a one time exercise. Adjust, head out, re-adjust,head out and repeat till it all comes together.

I like the concept but it looks like your arm would bang against the second camera that is attached on the side. For a single camera in front this system looks like a winner to me.

Actually, I find the second camera on the belt is more comfortable than the chest carry. When carrying only one camera, I normally use the holster instead of the chest.

That is not an issue. It is certainly better to have the second camera and lens secured next to your body rather than having it swing wildly on a over the shoulder side strap like many photographers do. The Cotton reduces the danger of having your camera swing into a door jam or other side obstructions.

If used with any lens with a tripod collar, it should be attached by the collar but it will stick out much further. Very good product.

From what I’ve read on These posts and internet feedback.. the yeas have it .., I had it shipped to California and it has arrived waiting for my arrival .., I have been delayed on my 70 day trip .., 2 canceled flights from Southwest by them Not by me .., and a canceled flight from Hawaiian Airlines by them not me ..., now booked on July 15 the first flight to Sacramento since the Virus shut them down months ago ... I was supposed to be there on June 5th ..

I have a State of California requal on 9mm and 40mm at a private shooting club ..August 23rd ...originally scheduled for June 25 ...so as long as I get in by then .. I stay current on my open carry and tactical weapons shooting , at 75 I outshoot 2/3rds of the class ...

Once I get the Cotton 2 camera system on and adjusted and do the field tests .., I can evaluate the system and as a designer And prototype maker with an extensive manufacturing background , I can modify the system professionally if needed ..I use graphite hiking Poles to save my knees so hands free without a swinging camera will be perfect .

Not sure about the pressure on the chest as posted earlier ...or the fact that the center camera obscures the vision when descending down a trail or incline .., I’ll have to see about that ...

I will keep you all posted on my review and or any modifications ...thnx for All your comments ..

Happy 4th! I live here in California. Hope you are following the news about closures of various places in California. The Governor is clamping down and the state is going in reverse again from its opening stance. Masks required in all public places including parks and outdoor areas that remain open. Many parks are closed. There is a new gas tax just added on top of all that. The golden state aint so golden these days.

I bought a cotton carrier many years ago and use it on all my hikes. Wouldn't want to be without it.

Is it alright to carry a longer lens like that, say a nikon 200-500? Thought it wa not recommended tohang a lens off the camera body like this without something supporting the lens.

When you wallpaper your body with naked vulnerable photo gear, and then hit the trail, the sturdy build of your lens mount is the LAST thing to worry about.

If I ever encounter you using such a thing other than for PAID event coverage, I promise not to laff ... at least while you’re still in earshot anyway.

I have used Cotton Carriers, hip holster and the Scout, for several years and recommend them over any camera strap I have ever tried. Used both with a d7100 with a 18-300 lens quite comfortably but preferred the off center chest carry of the Scout. I tried out the 200-500 around the house and realized I wouldn't want to carry it for long. At 84 and in summer weather I am limited to about two miles anyway. At 75 your balance is probably better than mine but be very careful of where you place your feet, You don't want to trip and fall forward, talk about pressure on your chest! Down steep inclines, side step it.

How well does it work on top of mid weight jacket?

The straps are adjustable, so it should be no problem.
