Cotton System
Well .., after a bit of research and reading the customer feedbacks.., I decided on the Cotton 2 Camera harness system ..., I have a 70 day California trip coming up ...I’ll evaluate the harness and let you know how it works for me at 75 years old ...

I have had one for years and love it...BUT you will quickly realize that when trudging "down" a relatively steep track the camera on your chest obscures the path where your foot will fall and it becomes a little nerve tingly especially when gravity forces you to step lively. On the other hand I have no intention of giving mine up while i can still walk. The pros definitely outweigh the cons. Have fun with it.
The VERY BEST with that cotton carrier.
I teach photography, and always recommend them. Most comfortable way to carry sizeable lenses I am aware of.

My wife and I used them while hiking through the Black Hills. It's nice to have both hands free while on the trail.
There are so many competitors out there at substantial cost savings .., after reading the reviews from othe manufacturers.., it was hands down the one to choose ... like choosing between Really Right Stuff and Vivitar.......

I've been using a Cotton Carrier Twin for about 5 years. The centre clip on the chest holster of my original Cotton Carrier broke with just days left on my 3 year warranty. I contacted Cotton Carrier, supplied a photograph of the damage and they replaced it with the latest G3 model, free of charge, without hesitation. Cracking company, brilliant customer service, excellent product.
I was thinking of purchasing one, how big of a lense will it support? I currently have a D500 w/ 200-500 mm.
I have the vest. Great for longs hikes, keep my hands free to use hiking poles. I am 68, the hiking poles help keep my balance and pressure off my knees.
I use it with my Canon T6 and 55-250 lens. Has a strap to hold lens in place if needed.

And, if your mistaken for a deer while walking in the woods, you have a good chance or surviving a chest shot by a high powered rifle.
Just a reality check here: I tried one of these, but found that I could not wear it. It fit too tight to my chest and was always putting pressure on my chest and rib cage. It put too much weight against my heart and was very uncomfortable to wear. I felt that I was too confined and had breathing issues. If I could have adjusted it where it hung down lower, more on my abdomen than my chest, I would have kept it. But this model was just too compressing and not comfortable to me.
The very first picture in the series shows my point. That camera body and long lens is a lot of weight to be pressing on your chest.

Is it alright to carry a longer lens like that, say a nikon 200-500? Thought it wa not recommended tohang a lens off the camera body like this without something supporting the lens.
Reminds me of a picture taken of me about 35 years ago.
I had just returned from a morning safari, carrying 2 bodies and some other stuff. I was going back to my lodging, when someone else asked me to bring back his equipment. Then someone else. Then....
I ended up with about a half dozen camera outfits. Someone took a funny picture of me loaded down. Sorry I dont still have it.
I have the side holster from them that I use for shooting events. I have a 70-200mm lens on the camera in it and a 24-70 lens on another camera on a shoulder strap.
I love mine
distributes weight, hands free, quick access
Use safety straps
Side mount not as good as center, functional, but keep lens hood on or your leg will wipe off the cap
I could sell one on many hikes, but the wife won’t carry the inventory
