Yeah both of you Liberal lying Democrats think your boy Joe could even to say two words in a row, all he will do is tax the hell out of us and turn this country into a Socialist, no law country, but bet your butt were not going to let it happen

Why do you turn this discussion into politics? Every expert agrees that masks are an adjunct to distancing in holding back this thing. Until we stop it, nothing else should matter.

No reason to think he started it, but I do wish he'd make some contribution towards stopping it.

The reality is that stopping it is probably nonsense. Very, very few viruses have effective vaccines so statistically the likelihood of one against this virus is pretty low despite however many dollars get spent on it. Additionally this one apparently mutates quickly like most flu or flu related ones (and no, I’m not saying this is just like the flu...just that it is flu related which is scientifically correct) so that lowers the likelihood of an effective vaccine even further.

Assuming no effective vaccine...then herd immunity is the only thing that will make it go away.

To get herd immunity...we need 70 or 80 percent or whatever the precise number is to get exposed, recover, and have antibodies...and those that will die from it will still die regardless of whether it is next week or next year...and given the better treatments available now as opposed to early March maybe some that would have died will survive.

No matter what the media tells you...the masks were (a) never intended to stop it but merely to keep the ICUs from being overwhelmed, and (b) the mask is designed to protect people from you and not the other way around unless it is N95.

Finally...there is need for local and or state decision on when masks are required...states like WY and MT have few cases and even fewer deaths so masks are not as effective as in densely populated places like NYC.

And finally the second...try to keep politics and hatred for the other side out of the discussion...it took until the 5th reply in this thread for the political attacks to start. You...on both sides...well you know who you are.

Actually, there are vaccines against most viruses, especially airborn viruses.

Therein lies the issue. Analyze most of the so called accomplishments putting politics aside and it reveals that he continues to falsely take credit where it is not due. He was fortunate to continue improving our economy, but surely not wholly responsible Those who like to tout his saving the economy are wishful thinkers. His base refuses to have the honesty to evaluate anything they claim he has done and continues to throw selected facts around that are largely not supported by the scientific or economic community. His disdain and abuse of any who speak against him is deplorable, but largely supported by his base. This includes abuse of his cabinet and all branches of our government. Our standing in the international community is embarrassing and overall counter productive to our long standing values. I am a long time Pub who does not buy into the false accolades.

Clown is an understatement.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Our standing in the international community since Mr. Trump was elected is one of our proudest achievements IMHO. We are no longer the chump that gives billions of dollars to people who hate us, etc. etc. etc.

Yeah, Trump's "Law In Order" is putting babies in cages, shooting rubber bullets and tear gas canisters at peaceful protesters just so he could have a picture taken, arresting someone at his rally for wearing a mask and a shirt that said "I Can't Breath." How can anyone praise a man who degrades women, thinking he has a right to do whatever he wants to them, lies incessantly, fires anyone who doesn't worship him, put his own wants before the protection of the United States, makes fun of people like a childish bully, I could go on and on. I usually don't ever post or talk about politics, because I am realizing his followers are like a cult. Since Trump has been president, I no longer wonder how people could follow Hitler.

Yes...his base overstates his accomplishments. And his opposition overstates his incompetence, racism, misogyny, and blame for the virus and the subsequent economic woes.

He did not cause it...and it would have spread regardless of anything he has done. He was blamed for stopping travel from China...and then later blamed for Not doing enough. Which was it? He is blamed for the unemployment and economic downturn... it it was primarily states that shutdown, not the feds...and state shutdowns led to unemployment and business closures. How is that the President’s fault? And if it is his fault...then why is he being blamed for reopening and trying to get the economy going again? Again, which is it...his fault or not his fault?

I get it that some don’t like him... it some didn’t like the last admin either and the vitriol this time is so much worse than it was last time. I’m not a great supporter...so don’t claim I am a bigot or semiliterate as some here are likely to do...in 2016 we had a choice of 2 poor alternatives...and he was less likely to use the office to enrich himself than the other one...but just barely.

Ever since the first time I voted...I’ve wanted “none of the above” to be on the ballot and if None won there has to be a new election and those idiots to be barred from running...seems like that and term limits would go a long way to getting us better leaders. Of course...I also think that both sides should reach across the aisle and compromise so that everyone gets a little of what they want and gives the other side a little of what they want. Too bad politics has turned into a “you must lose” game rather than a other country wins” game.

LOL, we shall agree to disagree. The need to be better informed is paramount.

Far and away the best post on this thread including the first one and the other twenty-eleven (to borrow a phrase from John Denver) that have the same arguments, political bias, and insults woven therein.

There aren’t...as a fairly quick google search would reveal. There are many thousands of viruses, they typically mutate frequently (fortunately polio and smallpox don’t which allowed vaccines to be developed)...and there aren’t that many with effective vaccines. Flu...no. Common cold...no. HIV...no. SARS, MERS...no and both of those are fairly similar to corona-19. Ebola, Marburg, Dengue...no. Corona-19...TBD...but it will be 18 months minimum even if it happens...and we cannot keep the country and economy closed that long or we won’t have a country or economy.

Think about it a virus is so tiny it goes through mask like it wasn't there. It is like trying to stop a house fly with a chain link fence. You are just falling for government control.

Mike,
If you somehow think you are the smartest man on this Forum, you need to start over. Educate yourself on the need and use for a mask and the way this virus is transmitted. Your comments are disappointing!

He came in with no mask, I was wearing one so I ask if this mask was doing any good. He says those mask are pure BS. He says I don’t wear one because they are pure BS. Besides those home made cloth mask do not work. If you want protection it has to be a N95 mask. Then again he says mask are BS and DO NOT WORK!

You need a new doctor!
