It might be argued that the wearing of a mask might not be a 100% deterrent; but it should not be in dispute that it is a deterrent, and takes little effort—so to be as safe as possible, and to give every consideration to our friends and fellow Americans, we should wear a mask.
But instead, there are those who want to argue the point.

As far as I know all CO2 will do is stimulate you to breath. It isn't lack of oxygen that causes you to breath, it is CO2 buildup.

Yes…there are v*****es against a small number of v***ses…but there are many hundreds for which no v*****e exists…over 200 cold causing v***ses…who knows how many flu v***ses, Ebola, SARS 1 and 2, MERS, hemmoragic fevers (however you spell that word), Marberg, HIV…all of which have no v*****es. My point is and remains that most v***ses have no v*****e no matter how much money you throw at the problem. It hasn't even been shown that antibodies against this v***s provide any ongoing immunity…and if they don't then a v*****e won't do so either since all it does is produce v*****es. Whether this v***s will mutate significantly is likewise really unknown since it hasn't been studied for very long.
The likelihood of having a safe, effective, and proven no long term bad effects v*****e by November is pretty darn low…sure, it is possible but it is also possible the we'll have flying cars by then, that we will land on the moon again by 2024 as NASA says, and that we will send a mission to Mars in the next decade…but none of those possibilities is very likely either.
