if you have ever had a problem with a filter sticking on one of your lenses try this..... Take a sharp pencil and run it though the threads of the filter before screwing it on your lens. The graffite in the threads will allow for easier removal later and more than likely keep it from sticking.
When I saw your title, I was going to say, "Get a pencil." : )
most of my filters are made of brass instead of aluminum and they don't stick.

I have to try this!!!!! Thanks!!!!!πππ
That is a good tip.
Is this a problem with all filters? Are there certain types of metals that are more prone to sticking? Is it a problem with brass threaded filters?
Aluminum made filters have a tendency to stick whereas the brass doesn't.
I like my filters to stick. Especially when the threads bottom out in less than a full turn. I can remove a sticking filter if I choose but I donβt want filters choosing on their own to remove themselves. No lube for me, thank you !

Use what jewelers have used as a lubricant for centuries. Scualene (nose oil) Ever rub the back of a finger nail on the side of your nose? It's oily. That oil, is sometimes called shark oil as one of the shark genus" is Squalus. So grease the threads with "nose oil" It works
Thanks for the tip. I will try this on a couple filters that insist on being difficult to remove. The nose oil tip is a possibility, too.

Iβm not a fan of small particles of graphite getting anywhere near any openings in my camera. I rub Ivory soap, rubbed on the threads.

Spend the cash for good brass filters no more sticking
Thanks for the tip. Graphite is also great for door locks(get it in a tube).
My filters stick regularly and I can tell you the plastic wrenches from Amazon are useless. This is an excellent tip...Iβm putting pencils in my camera bags today. Thank you. Side note: when I took trumpet lessons from a cruise ship trumpet player in 1960, his tip for keeping your mouthpiece from sticking was nose oil...worked great!
