Hi my name is Edna Maclean I haven't been on here for a long time
I have windows 10 on my computer but I do not like the photo editing program they offer
are there any free photo editing programs out there very new at this on this new computer
any help would be welcome.
Edna, I recently sought advice for my iMac. Out of it came a recommendation for the software DxO Photolab. Now it’s not free but I am so pleased with it. It was exactly what I was looking for.
But others recommended free software. My thread was called Alternate to the Apple photos app?

Hi Edna, What camera do you use? They (camera mfg.) often make fine editing programs, and they are generally free. If interested, go to the websites of (your camera mfg. here) Canon, Nikon, etc. and look at the downloads they offer. You may find this a good way to get more out of your photos for free. Enjoy.

Edna - I strongly suggest that you try Adobe Photoshop Express. It is free, and would be perfect for what sounds to be your requirement. It has exactly zero "learning curve", but still will handle just about anything you need to do.

Edna -
Based on UHH advice, I chose Affinity Photo as my processing software. It costs $30 but that's a one-time purchase price (includes upgrades), unlike the other major programs that require a monthly subscription fee. Affinity's capabilities are on par with those programs (Photoshop, Light Room, etc.), too. The free software I've seen offer only the most basic functions; probably no better than Window's.
Thank you so much everyone that helps a lot
I use PhotoScape for many of my photo tweaks. It's free and useful.

I use a program called “gimp” distributed by the Free Software Foundation. It provides the functionality of Photoshop but doesn’t cost anything. It was produced by great programmers who do this sort of thing in their ‘free time’. It is developed for LINUX, but I believe it was been ported to both Windows and Mac.
I can't believe Faststone has not been mentioned. It is simple and free. Also Irfanview. Look at both if you do not wish to spend anything for processing software.
and don't forget Raw Therapee for raw files.

Capture One Express could be what you need. It's free and does most of what Capture One Pro does. Excellent raw conversion and one of the best color editors. Levels, curves, sharpen and done. Stay safe, Dee

It has been mentioned - you just did.
There is a free version of Capture One. Most don't know. Hidden gem.

Yes, I have two old versions that were packed with old scanners.
