Respectfully, you really need to better understand what you are talking about. The information you presented is just plain incorrect. Best of luck.

ok, I got the definition of fixed aperture wrong, but I know what I paid for my lenses.

It was also OBVIOUS that the pricing mentioned was for USED products. Again, best of luck.

I may have missed it, but I don't think the OP has responded to my question about what his favorite lenses were on his prior camera (presumably a DX format). Would be useful to understand.

Let me just interject personally that I find that even 120mm or 140mm does not totally satisfy me in "walking around" or "travel" situations. I need more reach. I prefer the 18-300 with my DX bodies and the 28-300 on my D810. Yes yes, I understand the trade-offs. My choice.

2.8?? Since when?

Sorry, my mistake. the 24-120G is f4, my 24-70G is f2.8.

I use the 24-120 on my D500 and D850... am very pleased. I ordered a 24-70 Nikkor and in comparison, was not as sharp as the 24-120 (maybe I got a bad copy). Returned it. It is light and great range for a walk around. The only thing that is not “right on” would be close ups of flowers - not quite as sharp, but I am very fussy. Use my 105 macro for that.

I did buy a 77mm closeup filter for mine. But I'd much rather use the 105mm too.

Mine too, but you got my hopes up for a split second. No worries!
I love the range for events, and only put the 24-70 on when I need something faster & and a bit sharper.

Welcome to the UHH PDC... and congrats on your new D610! superb image quality, albeit it's AF is a tad challenged especially in low light but doable if you use the center AF point... Since it lacked the center press 100% zoom function I found it just a little to cumbersome for my workflow... (it's 39 point D7000 AF is it's Achilles heel). However it has fabulous dynamic range! Simply use that center AF point and you'll be able to rock nearly anything your hearts desire... it's a winner!

"Nikon 24-120 full frame lens... wondering if anyone has this lens. If so....What do you think about it?" yep I have this optic... but not the one so many are commenting on...

I have the only one that was actually made in Japan it's build quality is impressive... Found this optic several years ago in a local camera shop (bricks & mortar) Folks please support your local camera shops... they can be a fountainhead of knowledge and a source of some epic gear. In this case I purchased an "Open Box" brand new Nikon AF 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D Nikkor (circa1996-2002). Love it! This stellar optic is feather light at 560g while the new f/4G VR version is a heavy beast at over 700g... Please don't get me wrong, the new f/4G VR version rocks! but the other versions (also all made in Thailand) suffer from some pretty massive distortion... So for $150 I'm loving life with my vintage piece of kit... (came still in the box with a unregistered warranty card! how sweet is that!)

Ok talk is cheap... so below is a quick headshot with that 24 year old Nikkor on my epic D700 (you be the judge, k?) Also the actual piece of kit that I used...

Hope this helps PDC
All the best with your new D610!
I'm absolutely certain you'll love it....

I have both the 24-120 for my FF and a 16-80 for my crop body. Like them both.

I have the 24-120 on my D700, and the 28-300 on my D850: both good lens.

I just purchased a D750 after using a D7100 for a long time. I purchased a third party book that walked me through all of the features of the 750-which sat in the box until I finished. Felt like it was worth the time and effort
