Geez! All I seem to find at estate sales around here are Instamatics 😩

Stan

Do they still work?

I used an Instamatic 100 in high school and college, but the shutter mechanism died a few weeks before graduation - so I spent graduation money on an inexpensive 35mm rangefinder camera.

Man, you really hit the jackpot! I would like to find a Leica for my collection but everyone I have seen is too expensive.

I found a small, almost brand new canon sx625 at an estate sale last Friday. Paid three bucks!!! Charger and battery included. Wanted a Leica, but beggars can't be choosers.

I have a friend that goes to a lot Estate Sales and calls me often with questions and for advise. He has purchased nice Nikon primes which end up on my bodies. He said things are beginning to pick up now that things are opening up.

Great buy 2 IIIG's and a IIIF. On eBay that is about $1500.

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this post. These are some cameras I found at an estate sale in Akron, Ohio this weekend. I know everyone is into their phone cameras nowadays but I couldn’t pass these up.

You have discovered a bonanza. Those old Leica's can be worth a lot. I too scavage garage sales and estate sales. I look for unusual cameras or types of camera's I have used in the past. I also collect Leica wannabe's. Manufacturers who emulated Leica. I have a couple of Zorki's ( a Russian version... I carried one with me all over Europe while in the service. Couldn't afford a Leica on Airman's pay.. Also have a Nikon S2 . All of them accept Leica mount lenses and resemble the Leica

A great find. Bought a Voigtlander while I was stationed in Germany 65 years ago, Sorry I sold it.

Was it mechanical?

I cannot imagine using a camera 65 years old.

I cannot imagine even using now the rangefinder camera I purchased 40 years ago. I would miss modern features, such as having to focus before every shot, but I do still have its carcass in my closet {I ‘drowned’ it many years ago}

I guess anything that is a genuine Leica is worth a shot. Kudos to you for a good find.

Where did the OP go? A couple folks have asked what he gave for the lot. I'm dying to know too!

Probably more stuff than you really wanted. Let me know if you need some help with that. (We can dream, can't we?)
