“Tame” my ass. You must not have been there!

Tame wars? Is that like not testing so you'll have less cases?
Imagine how many people would have died from this virus if we had 1918 technology and medical treatments
It is going to be interesting to see how much of an increase in Covid-19 there will be in the cities that have experienced the recent rioting/demonstrations/vandalism/looting, etc.

The biggest "issue" will be "outsiders", those who travel from city 1 to demonstrate or riot in city 2, and then return to city 1.
Went to google to find out approximately how many people die in the USA monthly. In 2019. On average about one quarter of a million people die A month. So putting Covid in the mix’s would put a slight bump in those figures. Just saying.

I don't see there point in minimizing the deaths attributable to the Corona virus.
I obviously hope not, but the deaths this fall will be more difficult to minimize.

It was a terrible thing to say. That is all, no rationalization makes it acceptable.
The funny thing is,a fine for having more than five people in
a gathering, but in a riot, thousands and no fines for it.
Insane!!!!!!

I was born in 1949. In my lifetime America has been in 5 "wars" that spanned a combined total of 55 years (Korea, Viet Nam, Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan). The total number of Americans that lost their lives in that 55 years of war is 101,732. Covid-19 surpassed that in 3 months!
True, but what percentage of the 101, 732 lost in war were in chronic failing health, over 80, or both? For COVID, the death totals hover around 80% falling into those categories.
And, if one takes the U.S. life expectancy averages, the average dead soldier lost 45 years of life expectancy, and the average COVID death (because so many who have died were actually over the average life expectancy age) is closer to 18 months. So, even granting the apples-to-oranges comparison of why lives have been lost (even though bad foreign actors led to both groups....) the overall life-time loss of those killed in war averages out 15-20 times as great. Neither set of numbers rates 'good' on any scale but losing 101, 732, almost all men, and almost all in their 20's or 30's is clearly 'worse' for the families and communities than what COVID has wrought.
Economically, COVID stands to be far worse, but hope springs eternal that we can re-start what was, in late 2019 and early this year, the most inclusive set of positive economic numbers in my lifetime.

Ok, so how about the fact that more people have died (so far) from COVID19 than combatants in WWI and the Vietnam War combined. I wouldn’t call either of those wars “tame”. By August, you may be able to add the Korean War to that.
If (a big if that no one wants to see happen) it comes back in the fall, we might see the virus overtake the combat deaths from WWII.
Without a vaccine, the next number up are Union combat deaths in the Civil War, followed by Confederate numbers.
How many deaths will it take some people to consider COVID19 a real problem that has to be taken seriously?
From my point of view, I despise those who view the deaths of those from the Greatest Generation to be less serious than if the virus were killing members of their cohort. The ones dying are the same ones that made our country great.

While I am definitely not saying that this virus is bioterrorism it is proof though that bioterrorism as a war tool could be a possibility and an effective one at that . Also so could technical computer disruption terrorism . Many examples of computer hacking shutting down organizations & systems . There is no need for old fashioned war with combat troops, guns, knives, bombs, boats, tanks, planes, blood & guts, etc. Thats primitive old hat & outdated . I say do away with the military . Waste of money that could be used elsewhere . Of course would never happen as war machine is big business and lots of folx make a fat living off it .

I guess that you've already worked out where all those Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen are going to work instead of in the military?
