What are your experiences with this camera retailer. They are offering a New Sony RX10VI "Import" for $789 vs the retail $1,499.
1) KNOW you're dealing with a well known sorta shady dealer. Buyer beware.
2) It's an "import". Abe's means "grey market". IF anything goes wrong, USA_Sony admits to no knowledge, Abes says you bought it "as is". Then again, if nothing goes wrong, no problem.
3) Abes is selling you a *camera*. What else? Battery/ charger/ cable/ lens/ registery card etc included? You'll see this often on many other resellers as well. I'll see a whole table of parts and accessories- fine print says "body only". VERY common complaint.
4) Watch for "open box", or "as new return". Could be a counter queen- various folk have mishandled this for a few hours, every day, since it came out. Maybe somebody filled out the card; OEM says it may be "lost or stolen"- there's somebody else's name and address tied to that serial number. VERY common complaint.
C) I cheated- I just looked it up. It's the "RX 100" not the "RX 10" camera. BIIG difference. That $789 is actually really close to actual "street" price. What people who buy it pay for it.
That $1500 tag? MSRP marketing. NObody pays that. That's for write offs, insurance, ads, tax breaks, etc.

Abe's of Maine is well known as a Bait & Switch store, along with Ryther Camera, 42nd Street Photo, Fumfie, and DigitalOutlets. NOT saying they are thieves; I AM saying do your due diligence, understand the nomenclature, read the print, ask questions- here and everywhere- Google and Youtube- good friends too.
