Everybody want a sale! However, I have heard the rumblings of other photographers here on the HOG! I have never done business with them so I won’t write anything negative.

My favorite store is B & H in New York City. The customer service is impeccable. The floor staff will ask you a ton of questions to find out what you want and need. You won’t be sold something you will not use. Going into the store is mesmerizing as I live in Brooklyn. You will even love the dishes filled with candy. On line, I have never experienced a problem. I always get my order on time and intact. The price quoted is exactly what I pay. Please go to a place that you will always want to go back and buy more gear!

Happy Shooting!

A low price might bring a customer in, but it is good service that brings them back in. B&H understands this simple concept and it has been the reason for their success.

This is only your 22nd post here, so we'll assume you had no idea that this is almost the "Question of the Day",. every day, and if not Abe's 42nd Street. I suggest using the search feature, you'll get more info that you can ever read.

Give ‘em a call. Ask what all you get for the $789 price. Chances are no battery, no charger, no cables, no warranty. Ask the price if these items are included. Viola, you just paid the going price, or more, chances are.

RUN AWAY AS FAST AND FAR AS YOU CAN. Don't look for them in Maine either and I'm pretty sure no one named 'Abe' works there now. Best of luck.

Years ago I bought a new d80 from them. I noticed a spot on my pictures taken outside on a bright day. I pulled the lens and locked the mirror up and saw a spot on the sensor. I tried to remove it with a blower without success. I called them and they said to return it for an exchange. They sent me another brand new camera in factory sealed packaging. I was very pleased with their service. I've purchased 2 new Nikons since them from other vendors because of things I read about Abe's.

1) KNOW you're dealing with a well known sorta shady dealer. Buyer beware.
2) It's an "import". Abe's means "grey market". IF anything goes wrong, USA_Sony admits to no knowledge, Abes says you bought it "as is". Then again, if nothing goes wrong, no problem.
3) Abes is selling you a *camera*. What else? Battery/ charger/ cable/ lens/ registery card etc included? You'll see this often on many other resellers as well. I'll see a whole table of parts and accessories- fine print says "body only". VERY common complaint.
4) Watch for "open box", or "as new return". Could be a counter queen- various folk have mishandled this for a few hours, every day, since it came out. Maybe somebody filled out the card; OEM says it may be "lost or stolen"- there's somebody else's name and address tied to that serial number. VERY common complaint.
C) I cheated- I just looked it up. It's the "RX 100" not the "RX 10" camera. BIIG difference. That $789 is actually really close to actual "street" price. What people who buy it pay for it.
That $1500 tag? MSRP marketing. NObody pays that. That's for write offs, insurance, ads, tax breaks, etc.

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-Premium-Compact-24-200mm-DSCRX100M6/dp/B07DKG29RG/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=sony+rx100+vi&qid=1591582243&s=electronics&sr=1-2
Abes will charge from $249 to $399 EXTRA for insurance that comes with that American seller camera.

Abe's of Maine is well known as a Bait & Switch store, along with Ryther Camera, 42nd Street Photo, Fumfie, and DigitalOutlets. NOT saying they are thieves; I AM saying do your due diligence, understand the nomenclature, read the print, ask questions- here and everywhere- Google and Youtube- good friends too.

If saving a few dollars is what you have in mind you could end up in your dealing with them with a great surprise. That store is not a reputable dealer. Be aware of gray market.
Do not take chances, spend some more and go to Adorama, B&H, Cameta, Hunt or your local camera store. Get peace of mind and a dealer that will stand behind you if something goes wrong.

Cameta seems to have closed up.

At one time they were a very reputable dealer with a good reputation. That’s no longer the case. They’re not even in Maine any longer.

B&H is the best I have found online. I have made several camera purchases from them. Always reliable.
