After research I’m pretty sure I’m going to go Sony ar 111 mirrorless with a macro and a ll around general Lens.
Thanks, I’ll check it out.
Consider the Olympus M5 ii with 14-150 mm for sale on B&H listed at 899.00. Should cover most, if not all your needs. I had the Olympus M5 and in looking back the image quality was outstanding! Happy buying
With a mirrorless you are still carrying lens around. I went to the Panasonic FZ1000 and love it. Very lightweight and 1" sensor gets good photos.
Fuji X100V (fixed lens @35mm) but superb quality and weather seal option. I took this camera as a back up to a Nikon Z7 and D5 to Alaska 2 weeks ago and WOW!! It's a bit pricey but perhaps one of the best purchases I have ever made in photo gear. And I'm 73!
I have too many different cameras from film to digital, full frame to the micro sensors. Looking at the ff, crop, and 1", I can blow up all three to 19x13 and you would be hard pressed to notice the differences to tell which sensor I used. I was trying to get some bird shots, I have a 150-600 but just shooting around the yard or on a walk it is way too big and even it still doesn't get tight bird shots. Anymore the FF only gets out for astro and landscaping. For short hikes and around the yard I usually end up with my crop with the 70-300. But if it is long hikes or I'm trying to get a specific shot and I'm holding up the camera allot I get the 1" with it's 600 mm equivalent, I can hold that up to my eye all day waiting on a shot.
I agree with stardust. The new cell phones are great for the type of photography you want.
Simple Olympus OM10 - III with the kit lens is all you will ever need. BH Photo... search Rob Trek on you tube, or just om10-III and see more than you ever needed. Yes, it is an inexpensive camera that takes great shots.
Wow, Linda! That would have sold me.
How about the Nikon D3500. I bought it as a backup camera to my D7500 and D90. Lightweight, easy to use. It is an APC camera, so if your Nikon equipment is full frame, you might want to look at a bridge camera instead, with a built in zoom lens.

Ok, I am selling all of my Nikon equipment because I’m 72 and have arthritis in my shoulders and it is preventing me from holding a big camera. I need recommendations for a point and shoot that is good quality and easy to use. Or maybe even a mirrorless, but less than 1000.00. Sample pics if possible. I will use it mainly for pictures of my 1 year old twin grandchildren or my dogs. Thanks in advance for any information.
Despite what others may say, you don't need to spend ANYWHERE NEAR $1000 for the kind of photography you describe. If you give a call to B&H and tell them your story, they will give you many appropriate options for much less money, and they will not pressure you to buy. They are a terrific resource. >Alan
